Interesting idea... I have had old counter tops recut, but I took them to a countertop place to do them as I figured they would have better blades. So I don't know what they used, but it is possible.

Covering it with a sheet of lauan or something and cutting through it might help avoid chipping...

Here's another idea - the cracked ice vinyl is much cheaper - what about gluing it to the table top and then coating it in resin?? What do you think? Would it work?

I actually did this for my camper and I am really glad I did. I bought an aqua cracked ice table and chairs and had a woodworker cut the table down and route the edges so it was same size. It's heavy but it works and I re-purposed it. Now if I could only find some vintage formica to match for my countertop I would be THRILLED!
