Also, any guess at a weight? Would replacing the skin on the side with the GIANT vent be impossible? Thanks in advance.

If it's a 1500 it would weigh in around 1480 lbs.
if it's a 1400 it would be around 1650 lbs. the 1400 are wider at 7" 8".
I'm sure the skin could be replaced,,is there some kind of heating system behind that louvered panel. Danny

I would think it's a 1500 as he said it's 15'.
BTW,the 1600 didn't come along for a few more years.
Cutting a hole in the side is a good indication that there wasn't much repair work in recent years. Danny

That is a novel approach. Necessity is a mother....
I would be pretty sure the skin could be replaced. It may be a little tough to find a shop locally to do the 6" brakes though, just so you would know to look. Is this one nearby, considering for purchase? It looks like a decent unit, even with the over-sized port.

There is also enough roofing cement on the roof to seal a battleship. Plus a vent for the Frig, which needs taken out. For $2000 I might bite. But $5200?

If it is a 1500 it will only be 6 feet 6 inches wide if a 1400 it will be about a foot wider. The 1500s main body is just short of twelve feet long not counting the tongue, over all including the tongue it is just short of fifteen feet.

Ouch. That means the roof would need replacin' as well as the siding. Not to mention the interior/structural work not done.... $520.00 sounds better.

I think this is 6' 6" wide which means 1500. Being a little over 6' tall myself, a 1400 sounds perfect. Thanks for the info. Is yours a 1400?

I agree the price is way too high. But the man (seems very nice) is very proud of his work. Which means the price is firm. He will probably get it since it's the only one for sale this side of Denver.

The good part about this whole story is that tomorrow is another day. You just never know when or where they will pop up, and even if he gets the full asking price, they made more than one...

My '56 is the 1500,I'm 6'4" and can stand up straight in the sink & oven area, and my ceiling is sagging some. and you are right, the early Shasta's are rare as hens teeth, the one I purchased is rough but it was exactly the style I wanted and had been looking for for more than 4 years, just keep looking something will pop up.
