Well, I finally got the the clerks office after getting my paperwork together for the title. All two pages of it, one being a gift form since a friend gave it to me. I was expecting to wait 3-4 weeks on a title, the go get a ag for it. Low and behold, 20 minutes and $27.50 later, since I didn't get hit with taxes......I walked out with the title applied for and tag in hand in my name......woohoo. Still feel better when the title is in hand but it's a good start.

Congrats! Did you have to use the form for vehicles over 25 years? We did and we live in TN. I felt sooooo good when the title finally came in our name.

That's the form, It's actually 30 years now with any value. Or anything newer is under 3000$ and a lot more hoops to jump through

I live in TN title is very easy to get once you know what it takes to pass the inspection. People at DMV have the forms fill them out and mail them in with $25 a State Trooper will come to the house do the inspection, give you a VIN nummber, stamp number on your trailer then give you papers to get a title at DMV.
I built a Teardrop camper from scratch it weighed 650 lbs. being less than 1500 lbs electric brakes are not required, marker lights not required. Trailer is required to have safety chains rated 2 times stronger than the trailer weight, it needs brake lights, signal lights, reflectors, mud flaps, sales receipts proving I paid sales tax on all the building materials. Bolts that hold the safety chains on have to be rated as strong as the chain. Tires have to be rated for the weight of the trailer new or in good condition. Chain clips need to have safety clips so they can not bounce off. DMV charged me $14 for tags and about $7 or $8 for title. Title came in the mail about 2 weeks later.
I bought a junk 1964 camper saved the frame, aluminum skin and windows then burned the rest. I built it back with material from Lowe's. State Trooper came to the house this trailer weighs 1800 lbs so it is required to have electric brakes. Tires have to be 8 ply D rating new or in good conditions. Brake lights, signal lights, marker lights, reflectors, brake away safety switch are all required. 5 red marker lights in rear and 5 amber color marker lights in front. Safety chain has to be rated 2600 lbs 2 times the trailer weight with 2 bolts to hold 2600 lbs. Safety clips on the safety chains so they do not bounce off. Being an old trailer axle, springs, frame, hitch, brakes, all get inspected. If axle springs are broken or cracked or clips on the springs are broken, cracked, damaged your trailer does not pass inspection. If brakes have broken or bad parts you better get it fixed before inspection. You have to pull the trailer with your vehicle to prove brakes work and brake away switch works too. Tires need mud flaps. Trailer width can be no wider than 8 feet. Door knobs, fenders, lights, anything that sticks out on the side can not make the trailer wider than 8 ft 6 inches. DMV has to see sales receipts to prove the value of the trailer and that I paid sales tax. Like before mail in papers with $25 State Trooper comes to the house and does the inspection, you get a VIN number and papers to take to DMV. VIN number gets stamped into the frame. Tags are $14 and another $7 or $8 for title. Title comes in the mail in about 2 weeks.
2 axle trailer have different rules and over 3600 lbs different rules. Both axles need brakes and all tires need to be 8 ply D rating.
