We had such a blast at our last Spring Fling, everyone wanted to return to Moonshine Creek for our 2014 gathering. We will be back at Moonshine Creek May 15-18, 2014. If you plan on attending, please get your reservations in. This campground is a hot spot and will fill fast. Here is a cropped map of Moonshine Creek Campground, showing the sites that we have had blocked out for our gathering. We have all of the sites surrounding the creek, sites 1-13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 23, 27. Image We can start making reservations any time. Please send Dana an e-mail Moonshine Creek Campground with your name, arrival and departure date, number of people in your party, site number and if you would like cable. Please be sure that you tell Dana that you are with the Tearjerkers / teardrop group. There is a one night deposit of $30.00 to hold the reservation and you can mail the deposit to: Moonshine Creek Campground PO Box 10 Balsam, NC 28707 Once Dana receives your deposit, she will mail out a confirmation. Carla and I will be in site #9. Looking for another GREAT turnout. I do believe that we will have a Rib Cook-Off at this gathering. So plan on coming with open hearts and an empty stomach ;thinking; I've heard that somewhere before

Not at all. Everyone is welcome at any of our gatherings, no matter what you camp in! At times, we have Airstreams, vintage RV's, Shasta's, Scotty's and other vintage trailers. As well as a few tents.
Hope to can make, Melanie!

Our friends from Florida had to cancel. Looking forward to having you on our side of the creek!
We have 3 events for this gathering, Rib Cook-Off, Formal Friday Night Dinner and a traditional Saturday Night Potluck.
The Rib Cook Off will start around noon on Friday. Some may require an earlier starting time. If you are one of these people, just let me know who ya are, so we can talk. All entries should be ready for judging by 5:30pm at the Meating Place. The cook off will be held around site #9. Just look for tha smoke.
Just a reminder. RULES for the cook off are simple. You provide your own ribs, short, Danish baby backs, beef or pork, etc. They just can't be pre-cooked ribs. You can use a Dutch Oven, crock pot, grill or smoker. BUT, the dry rubs must be of your own creation, as well as your as your sauce. It must be homemade, too. We will be checking these out during the competition, sampling and tasting.
As for the Formal Friday Night Dinner, it will be at the Meating Place at 6:30pm. Venture out to your local Goodwill or thrift shop for your Formal attire for the Friday Night Formal Dinner. The attire should something you don't mind getting dirty or having the aroma of campfire smoke....prom dress or evening gown, for tha ladies and suit or tux for tha gents. Remember, the attire doesn't have to serious formal wear. Just have fun with it....we do!! I am sure there will be a few ribs left over, but you should bring something to throw on tha grill for your crew and a side dish to share.
The Saturday Night Potluck will be held at the Meating Place around 6:30pm. Bring a dish for your crew and 2 others. This may not sound like a lot of food, but trust me, there is always food left over!
For those who have not been to Moonshine Creek, the Meating Place has tables, chairs, a kitchen area with a sink (cold water only), refrigerator and has a grill or two.

Thanks to everyone for enduring the cold and rain and we did keep the campfires going. There were 16 trailers from several different States. It was great meeting you and your husband, Melanie. Congrats to David for winning the Rib Cook Off!! The Friday Night Formal was a blast, as usual and so much amazing foods at the potlucks! We will be back at Moonshine next year, May 14-17, 2015 and changing up Formal Night just a bit. So stay tuned for more details! Carla and I really appreciate the support we get from everyone and this is shown by the great attendance and amazing people we get at our gatherings. Here's to you all We couldn't do it with out you!
