Get some 1/8 inch luan or anything and glue it to the top to cover over and reinforce the back side of the paneling. Just put glue all over one side and place it over the bad spot and put a couple of books on it till it dries. Go 6 inches past the bad spots where possible. You may want to put the rest of the slats in first and then cover up the bad spots with 1/8 inch anything. Just to make it more solid and no one's head will go through it. HEADS UP people! This is an excellent way to strengthen compromised plywood. I do it all the time. Gorilla glue is my favorite and I really try to brace/clamp/weigh it down. A screw in the right place can help hold the panel as well. SusieQ, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! If you are concerned at all, short panels can be glued in place between the rafters. All you're trying to do is construct another plywood layer...

I've got Gorilla glue; it was in my stocking for Christmas.

I asked my husband for Thetford Portable Toilet for my birthday, but I got this for my trailer instead Guess hubby didn't want me telling anyone he gave me toilet for my b'day. He told me if I wanted it to buy it myself. Nothing related to housework allowed for presents here. Power tools, hand tools, air tools and Dremel accessories are all allowable. I usually buy whatever tool I want and give it to him for a present I think he's catching on. NewMex, not here yet. Our mail takes a while. Sometimes, the mail lady loses thing in her car. One of my Christmas cards mailed in Dec. didn't make it until Feb.

Here's a quick update. I reinforced the ceiling with plywood and Gorilla glue. Looks great except I still left one little buckle in it. I think more Gorilla glue and bracing would have fixed it but too late now! I started repairing the split ash laminate and got pretty good at it, wish I had been that good when I started. Had to cover up for the snow. I'll take pics and post when I uncover it before I rip it out. Had too much time to think.. quite possibly going to replace it after all. Good learning experience, though.
