Howdy! Been lurking for a while since my kitten and I went up to Utah in November and picked up a cutie little '64 Jet. It was posted on the TCT Facebook page and within seconds, she was on the phone working out the logistics from California. The seller liked her enough to tell the other 100 people (including those who showed up waving 2x the cash) to keep lookin while we xterra'd 8500' up through the first snow of the season. This is what it looked like: This is what she looked like: Here's a pano of the interior (before) And here's where it sits, at our sister Kergie's Camper Kamp with her Scotsman. It was in such good shape inside (with a little water damage around the skylight), we're not gonna modify much; paint and accessorize the interior, wiggle the electrics, rescreen the door and polish up the finish... We spent our first night with candlelight and egg nog in a Wal Mart parking lot, and prayed the blistered tires the 1000 miles home. Next up we're gussyin' up the exterior, replacing some jalouisies and keepin on more electric work. We will have questions for y'all!

Welcome Nice trailer. I would suggest that any classic trailer that you purchase you should check the sill boards around the bottom to make sure they are not starting to rot. If they fail your walls will sag and it will cause you some very major repairs. This is fairly easy to check and a somewhat easy repair if needed. Things you will want to watch for is the alum panels starting to bow out a little that is one of the first indicators, also the alum starting to come loose along the bottom.

I was just about to say the front bottom already looks like it's saggin' a little. But that is one heck of a cute trailer!! Wish I had it. I'd have the bottom skinned, new boards in and bottom skins back on in a few days time! Love it. Get them skirt boards fixed. Better safe than sorry. Soup

...And don't forget the usual advice. If it has not been reworked, all the windows, vents, j-rails, et al, should be pulled and resealed with new putty tape. Just because it hasn't leaked does not mean it won't. Great trailer, and well worth doing the due diligence to protect its future.

We'll be taking the windows out and polishing up the aluminum ~ we're missing a few jalousie window panes and their clips so I'm looking for those, and I'll be sure to putty 'em up good when they go back in. I'll pull the front panel off and see what lurks beneath based on y'all's suggestion. Cheers! -russ and kim
