Anyone had their oven door handle or trim pieces rechromed? I am looking for feedback and recommendations. I can send them out or would love a local company in the Seattle area. Thanks.

Re-chroming is very expensive in todays world. It is very labor intensive due to the hand polishing required. Also the EPA has very strict regulations on the hazardous chemicals that must be used during the process.
You want to find a chrome shop local to your area so you can stay on top of them, because 99% of the chrome shops are marginal on their professional business practices. DO NOT ship and have it done out of town. You also want to find a shop that does small lots of custom items like motorcycle and hot rod parts every day. You do not want to use a large volume chrome shop that specializes in bumper re-chroming for a example. Take the time to unwrap each part and inspect it at their counter before you leave. Also make sure you take good photos of each part before you leave it. The shops I use also take their own photos before I leave it. In most cases you are leaving them parts that would be near impossible to replace, and they lose and damage many parts. If they were easy to replace you would not have brought them in.

We have used and can recommend a business called The Chrome Man in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He did our Shasta badge and baby moons and made them look incredible. Chroming is expensive and very labor intensive, so be ready for sticker shock.

Baby Moons are the old style round chrome hubcaps. They fit in the middle of the wheel and look oh so COOL!

That looks to me like an easy $600 in chroming cost based on prices in my area. Looks nice.

DANG, vikx, I thought that baby moons were all those little things you see in the sky about a month before you have cataract surgery! Actually, it'd be fun story for a six year old about how Hamlet's baby moons came to be. STOP ME NOW! I already have three kids books waiting for art and publishing.

Mindyrose, I've used Queen City Plating in Mukilteo. They are very good and be prepared to pay lots of $$$. Down the street from them is Production Plating. I haven't used them, but friend have and were happy with their work.

We used The Chrome Man in Baton Rouge for the pieces you saw in the photo. The Bargman door mech was done at Speed and Sport Plating in Houston, but they were VERY pricy!

I have had many large and small parts chrome plated over the years and can highly recommend Advance Plating in Tennessee. Danny www.advancedplating.com/site/

For those of you have had chrome plating done, do you have a link for your source? I don't think we have that in our links board, but I will check.
