OH the reason I am posting this is because the PO had to have cut the table width down because it doesnt fit in between the dinette seats. Just one more thing I am going to have to make from scratch to make this camper livable!

That Airflyte dinette setup was built just the way you see it. The table does not incorporate in to the bed when it is made down. The original benches were the heavy framed cushions with the inner springs. They would lay across the "gap" on a set of slats, which just laid in across the frames of the benches. Not a great photo but this is one cushion laid down onto the slat.

This camper didnt have the original cushions when I acquired it so I really had no idea that the table wasnt a part of the bed. Hmmm. I dont know if I have the slots that would fit across that gap either. I may have to make some. Not a problem but I will also be remaking the table with a new top also. Dont get me wrong I love working on this camper and I am anxious and excited to see it coming together and I am learning a TON of new things! Thanks for the reply it clarifies a lot for me!

And Ten I just purchase the same wings from Tyler that you have in your picture! They are amazing wings and they will be the last thing I put on my camper to finally let it fly!

I found the slats under the bench and had no idea what they were, but a little experimenting made it clear that the table was not the support.

Ten is right and if you widen the table, the fat guy/lady won't fit into the seat...

Ten is right and if you widen the table, the fat guy/lady won't fit into the seat... Listen to Vikx and do not make the table wider. We have a 62 Airflyte and it took us awhile to figure out the front table/bed set up. We had to cut three slats for ours. We do have the original seat cushions. We slide the table onto the floor under the slats for storage when we have to use the dining area as a bed.

No I won't be making the table any wider then it is currently but I will be replacing it with a new one! New edging and new framework. I will make slats to fit between the seats and stow the table under. I really appreciate the input from all of you veterans with the rebuild/restoration of my Airflyte.
