Hi Friends, Found this on an unrelated search this morning. When you are having to squeeze blood from a turnip. The following screen shots come from a video on Youtube. You can look up the video - title is shown in the screen shot to see the video. As part of the video, the new owner lowers the trailer by removing the wheels and then drops the trailer down with the hubs sitting on wheel dollies. Then he pulls it into his garage. In front, he has raised up the tongue jack as far as it will go and then rested it on a small furniture dolly. Even with that, he had to remove the roof fent to squeeeeeeeze it into the garage. Here are two screen shots from the above descriptions.
Cheers,
Rod

Working with such small clearance has proved to be a pain for me, especially removing or hanging the roof. This guy had good ideas tho...

While unrelated, near the beginning of the video, for you new folks going to your first vintage trailer retrieval, the new owner points out a broken spring. The spring leaf was so badly rusted that it broke just down from spring eye. He had towed it home unknowingly with the axle only attached to the trailer frame at three points. Always check the springs and frame for cracks. Be extravigilant if you see excessive rust below before retrieving an old trailer. This must have sat in a field that was often wet for the rust to have been so bad, a spring could become weak enough to break. Cheers, Rod

Several years back I had that happen to my Roadrunner. Drivers side spring snapped off at the eye. Felt a little funny, um, accelerating from a stop. When I lat off the throttle, the axle rotated under the car and shot me into the ditch on the opposite side of the road.

So, what happened to the Roadrunner? How badly damaged was it?
