Hello,
Looking at resealing the large front window on my 76 cygnet.
I was wondering about the size of butyl tape to use.
Is there much of a difference in using the 1/8th vs the 3/16th thick tape?
Tks

It depends on the gaps that need to be filled and how well the window fits the siding. The front window takes a lot of rain when towing, so it needs to be well sealed. 3/16 is very thick and might be hard to trim. The screws must have a sound purchase to ooze the putty properly.
Also, true butyl is much more difficult to manage than RV putty tape. It also tends to melt if in hot sun.

I've both true butyl and putty. Butyl is especially hard to trim and work with in hot weather but has an excellent seal. I used 1" wide putty for a better seal. I've also doubled 1/8" where I needed.
