Hello everyone. Newly registered but have been a lurker for a while now. Glad to be here.
I want to work on a project making a scaled version of the Shasta 16 SC. My issue is I have no measurements to go on as unfortunately, I don't own one of these amazing Shastas! Is there anyone willing to help me out?
What I'm hoping for is measurements from the hitch to the front of the camper to establish hitch length. Front to wheel center. Wheel center to end of body and back of bumper. Dimensions of bumper. Height from ground to body. Then measurements from axle center to rear body edge. And then front body edge to axle center. These measurements would be needed like every 6" up. The intent is to replicate the profile. Also door and window placements too.
This is going to take someone a little bit to do. It's not a two minute ask but it would really be appreciated! I promise to share what I'm making too once it's under way if someone would be so kind as to help out!
Of course if this is already known and drawn up somewhere please let me know how I can locate that too. I'll draw this up in autocad once measurements are known!
Much appreciated everyone! Thank you!

I don’t have an SC but I have an airflyte if it would be the same I could get you measurements. I actually have 2. I have a 59 complete and a 60 that I had to take down to the frame to tow home. Let me know if it would help. I also want to do the same with a 56 Aljo. I found all the parts to one but the actual trailer is gone.

Hi straybc. I think you will find that sourcing the correct windows and parts for your build can be a very difficult task. You can build a frame and substitute most of the hardware but without the correct windows you can't duplicate the vintage look. It's much easier to find a complete rotten trailer that you can salvage the important parts from and use for a pattern. Even if you have to spend a few grand and drive halfway across the country.

Hi!
Thank you for the replies to both of you. I'll check and see if either of those two trailers are close enough. I'm not familiar with them all to know off hand. I really appreciate the offer and I will post back.
As for making one from scratch - I'm trying to build "one" that's about 1/2 or maybe 1/4 scale. Haven't fully decided the size yet. It's not going to look exactly like an SC in the end but will have the general resemblance and small wings etc. It will be on wheels and actually roll but only for convenience really.
This is a bit of a silly project for sure but is a gift and I think will be neat when it's complete.
Thank you again so much!

Hi aslmx! After looking at a 1959 airflyte it would be great to have measurements from that if you're still willing! It's very cute and looks so close to an SC it would be perfect!
Please let me know if you'd like to email or chat about it.
It sounds like you have some neat projects there! Are you looking for a frame for the 1960 or could you build a new one? Edit: After rereading it seems the frame is ok! Rebuilding the entire unit will be a lot of work though!
Thank you so much!

Hi straybc. If all you are doing is building a large scale model, you could just buy one of these on Ebay and then use a triangular architect's scale to measure it and upscale to any size you want. The model is 1:24 scale and very accurate to the original so measuring it with the 1"= 2' scale would give you the life size measurements of the trailer without doing any math. Measuring with the 1"=1' scale would give you the half size measurements and the 1"=1/2' scale would give you the 1/4 scale measurements.

Hello newin62.
That's a good idea. I've always wondered how accurate models like that are scaled. For what I'm working on it isn't an issue at all but more of a curiosity. I'll see if I can get one ordered.
