Hi Friends, Taking a break from report card hell, I stumbled on this. www.rvusa.com/1965-shasta-16-travel-trailer-3386849Come get this Shasta! Didn't know in 1965 that they made a retro 50's Shasta. Amazing... So, friends, lets pick this puppy apart. I will start. I love the vintage tires that they left on this trailer. Tread looks good despite the spider cracks. For $17K, I get vintage tires. (Yes, Sarcasm is implied in my post) Cheers, Rod

Well, aside from the fact that it’s not and never has been a Shasta…
Might be a fun “final exam” for grades 6-12: extra credit in the form of a book about vintage trailers for the student with the most correct answer. And a good lesson in honesty in advertising.

Ooooo. I LOVE this type of post...
Not a Shasta, paneling doesn't match, awful modern interior, rebuilt from the "inside out", supporting cabinets are gone, vintage charm butchered and no mention of title. YUK. Did you notice the rope "trim"?
They have many for sale so it must be some sort of flipper business.

Perhaps they're taking the frame and windows from rotten late 60's toasters and turning them into hams because they sell better. A lot of misguided money and energy went into this thing as it was built from the frame up. It's too bad they obviously didn't peruse through this forum, read Vikx's book or watch Larry lament over how to properly rebuild one of these. The only consolation is that it looks like they didn't ruin a real viable 50's ham in the process. They only ruined the Shasta emblem!

Hi Friends, My opinion on this Shasta Wannabee is that it looks like a "Frankenstein" trailer. Maybe that's why it went on sale so soon around Halloween. (I jest of course) What's up with that front window assembly? From what trailer did they cobble that from? Then the overabundance of jalousie windows. Lemme guess - They had the trailer and it was missing windows, so they had some jalousies laying around so they thought, "Hey, lets use these up. Let's enlarge the openings from the original Hehr windows and just pop those puppies in. Makes me wonder if they did some similar pondering with the front window assembly. The wings are too low and the marker lights are too low. Gee, I wanna add some wings for $500 to mine so I can add more fakey value to my trailer.(rolls eyes). It's a 1965. WHAT?? Look at how they sealed up the J-rail. They must have stock in DAP. Lots of that all around. The tires really bug me (still). They have the gall to ask $17K for this thing and you don't even put on new tires. (C'mon! ) That shows they were cutting costs (pathetically). Ohhh, lets not forget the lauan paneling for the walls and ceiling. Cheap cheap. They probably didn't paint it because it would have cost them more money. Geeze Louise. Someone get me a drink! Cheers, Rod

Shore power on wrong side. Where do I hang my clothes? That rear jalousie is going to leak.

The wheel well cut out are odd.
The cabinets look 1985
The counter look like Home Depot
The upper cabinets that keep the camper together are missing
The Shasta emblem is in the wrong spot. The electric is in the wrong spot. The tear drop lights are in the wrong spot.
A 5000 pound jack?
Wings?
The stove is vintage...

The profile shape reminds me of a Love Bug. The front center window is a later Awning Window and not a jalousie like it should be. Too bad they ruined this trailer. It could be worth the asking price if it was more original and done properly from the outside in.
