www.amazon.com/photos/groups/share/VOJfBCU3TYaJFQAArKzCgg.yc1mb47L0BiBZf4V_bzB1dI need advice on how to repair the exterior of a camper my grandfather made in the 1930's. The roof was remade by my uncle about 7 years ago. It has a beech wood frame covered with canvas. The sides are masonite over a wooden frame. The last coat of paint is flaking off badly. I want to make sure I do it right so any help is appreciated.

What condition is the Masonite in underneath the paint? What does it look like where the walls meet the floor, inside and out?

You have to make your photos public so we can view them.

Except where the hole is the masonite is in good shape so far. The pictures are on Amazon, so I guess you would need to join the group to view them.

Your grandfather did a great job with the Masonite. Obviously, new paint is only as good as what's under it. In your case, there is old paint and some exposed Masonite. If the Masonite is soft or flaking, paint would be a waste of time. You could use an oil based paint and primer and keep it out of the elements for a cheap (possibly short term) solution.

I agree, Grampa did a great job on the build. Any interior pics?
