Hi All,
New to forum and new first time camper owner. 3rd owner of a preowned 15 ft, 18 ft overall, 1971 Lance camper. I spotted her in Southern Indiana sitting next to a barn in the weeds late last summer. Everything original 1971. Pulled her home 80+ miles @ 30 mph. Maypop tires and no spare. I am the third owner, she came with a clear Indiana title. First owner, owned her until four years ago.I was told by second owner that she sat in a camp ground the most of her life until he bought her, then she was moved and used as an overnight hunting shelter.
Once I got her home I could barely wait to get started. Started by removing all the birds nest and poo. Then I tackled the carpenter ants and other ants. After all that, then I tied into the mice, the mouse poo, pee and debris. All the time I thought people must be crazy for working and restoring old campers and stuff. Then it hit me!!!!! I am crazy too..... I have walked that long dark path before. I guess people are born that way. Its in your blood. One day while working on her it hit me, the labor of love. YES, she will be given the name, THE LOVE SHACK.
At the present time I am waiting for better weather to resume work onTHE LOVE SHACK. So far I have given THE LOVE SHACK a clean, repaired and newly undercoated frame and all new/ reconditioned running gear.
Here is where Im asking for help. In my spare time I have been reading post regarding repairs and restorations at different forums. I truly enjoy reading them as they are very infomative and the people are very responsive. I am looking for ANY information I can get regarding campers like mine. I have written the Lance factory in California but have not recieved any response. I have asked for help and posted pictures on the LOA( Lance Owners of America ) but have recieved more questions than answers. Appears to be the oldest camper ever posted. MY QUESTION IS IS THERE ANY OTHER OLD LANCE SURVIVORS OUT THERE? I would appreciate any information regarding lance camper restoration, repairs and parts.
MANY THANKS
MIKE
