I need to raise my 1962 Rancho El Rae. I was going to use a longer shackle but then found I also have a broken leaf spring. Now that I have to take it ALL off I may as well just put the springs on top of the axle. But do I need anything else or can I just set it on top?! Of course I would use new square bolts and all, but what else do I do? I does not seem like there is any type of riser since the axel itself is square! photos.google.com/u/1/photo/AF1QipNDP3OBERuoxFc1jZYKXbatCXGbds9r7uUk5exP

One way to raise the trailer is to put the axle underneath the springs. It gave me 3.5- 4 inches on my Shasta. Don't "flip" the axle as it will cause tires to wear funny.

I can't see your photo in google docs, but here's a link to a recent thread where I referenced / showed pics of moving the axle to under the springs... Axle
Hope that went as I planned... Whitney

Depending how much lift you want an axle and spring shop could supply you with lift blocks to install between the axle and springs. 4X4 truck guys do this all the time to lift their vehicles. Always a good idea to replace the axle u bolts and nuts when replacing an axle or springs.

Hi Friends,
There is also a bonus added in with new springs. The original springs will most likely be sagging a little. If you add a new axle with new springs, the new springs buy you a few more inches in height over the original sagging springs.
Cheers,
Rod
