Does anyone know how to read the VIN code. Just curious, is it a 67 or 68. I know sometime they say made in 67 and call it a 68.

Sometimes the VIN can be nailed down to pretty close to the manufacture date. I am not too sure about the VIN on the Aristocrats.
The VIN on the Shasta were sequential numbers through the factories and did not necessarily coincide to the exact dates. Also, the factories were not using the same sequences of numbers so there are variations from factory to factory as well.Since many were ordered through dealers by the consumer, there were cross-overs...end-of-model-year already built that may have been sold and titled a year newer than the manufacture. There is a pretty good database available on the Yahoo Shasta group. These a data bases are compilations however...nothing official. But they can narrow it down considerably....(Sorry, am unable to find my link to the Yahoo group at the moment...)

Thanks Ten, but the trail went cold on me on finding out about VIN numbers. I did finally get all the numbers from the tongue and what I am trying to find out is what year my Aristocrat Lo Liner is. I see pictures that come close, but then I find some kind of difference, such as heater vents, maybe running light placement. Probably doesn't mean a thing, but would like to know. The numbers that I found are 2565 C157S6396, if I understand this number, the 7 is the year, but I'm told it is a 68. Made in 67 and sold in 68 is my guess.
