In looking forward to plan ahead, while the skin and walls are out, i got to thinking about the water system in my compact. i have a reclaimed system from a popup, tank, sink and pump. i will be putting a power distribution center in. Im going to put in a city connection as well as gravity feed fill. So, the big question is, should i just use the 12v pump, or the rocket hand pump, or can i use both to kinda keep the retro look, and to have back up if the battery dies.

Pirate, we are on the same path. I want to do the same but I'm also going to have hot water on demand. I was wondering if I could use a retro cold water faucet for my electric pump/heated water and use the hand pump for cold water.
I guess I'm asking is if the retro "cold" water faucet has to be just for cold or can I use it for hot?
They do make the new combination city water/ hand pump faucets but I want to preserve the vintage look.

I am with you on trying to preserve the look, somewhat, which is why i decided against installing 12v USB charging ports.

Thanks pirate, I wasn't sure if there was something in the mechanics of the "cold" faucet that might fail using hot water.
The other thing I have thought about is a double retro/retro-look faucet, hot water from pump, cold water city and then the standard hand pump for cold when there's no city available.
It will be interesting to see what our final restores look like.

You could have both hot and cold water through the original faucet by installing a remote mixing valve in a concealed location like a cupboard or a fake drawer front. Then you would just move the mixing valves to what you desired then turn the original off and on as needed. a small inconvenience if you truly wish to maintain the original appearance yet have both hot and cold water.

one thing that can be done, it doesnt have to be an rv faucet, you could find one out of an old house, similar to one on home depot web site with the soap dish, except its plumbing comes out of the wall

The old rocker pumps won't take pressure, so they are only "hand pumps". If you are going to have both hot and cold water, there are retro looking faucets with two connections. Decide whether you want a tall spout or short, etc...

The city water faucet will work for hot but what will you do for cold? The rocker pump won't work... Maybe you can find a skinny filter faucet for cold?

Ah, good on that.
One thing about it, if the water heater isn't "on" you'll have cold water anyway...
