Howdy all, just bought my first ever travel trailer, a 1968 Aristocrat Land Commander. As near as I can tell it's in fairly good shape. Famous last words, I know. But I'm optimistic!
I know next to nothing about the LC, or trailers in general when you get right down to it, so it ought to be interesting. Here's what I do know about the trailer so far...
It has a pressurized water tank running a cold water line to the sink. LP &/or electric fridge. LP stove LP furnace All Avocado unfortunately, but what do you do. Here's hoping they work properly (I was assured they do. We'll see). Toilet, lovely shade of pink.
It has a battery box on the side, but no battery. I have a bit to learn about deep cycle batteries and inverters (also not included).
I haven't had the opportunity to test any of the lines, H2O or LPG, but my fingers are crossed.
Don't believe there's a grey water OR black water tank. There's a curved outlet spout roughly beneath the toilet. Not planning on testing that one the hard way...
I don't even know if these things come with brakes. Haven't taken the wheel off yet, and the trailer connecter thingy is a grafted on "flat four", I think they're called. I suspect that originally it had the round connecter, based on the thickness of the original wiring it was grafted on to. Which would make me think brakes are there.
Yep, I'm pretty clueless. But I'm excited for the project and happy to have found this resource. Particularly since vikx has rehabbed a couple of these. Pics coming soon, and a ton of questions coming sooner!

I was going to say paint them pink, haha! Glad you are here! Where are your pics? I really want to see the pink toilet!!!

Welcome kmac! I've had two Land Commanders, a 67 and a 68. Post questions if you have any. The toilet is probably a recirculating toilet called a Monomatic. They have their own holding tank and operate on 12 volts. Unfortunately, they are also called "Fecal Fountains" because they use waste water to rinse the bowl... works fine if you just pee but #2 is nasty, even with the required chemicals. Trailer never had an inverter or converter, just the battery charged by the tow vehicle while on the road. A more elaborate 12 volt system can be added if you like. Brakes are most likely. Land Commanders have wonderful beefy frames and also weigh enough to require brakes. Wonderful trailers. PM me for my email if you have extensive questions or need pictures. I can post most here... Finally took a few pictures, here they are... She's pretty enough for now, but there's a lot of polishing in our future. If it looks as if the gate is lower than the trailer, that's because it is! Have to take the gate apart to move it in or out.
