I have two Mastertrack UN203 ST 175/80R13 91/87M 6 PR High Speed Special Trailer Tires on my Shasta Compact. Sidewall sez 50 pounds... should I run it with that or a little lower say 46psi?

Do what the manufacturer sez. You made a good choice by going with ST tires...they are much safer, but just because you "can" go 70mph doesn't mean it is a good idea when towing an antique camper. This is especially true if you do not know for certain what the structural condition of the trailer is. I usually go about 65 mph tops towing a 3500 lb. trailer with a 1/2 ton GMC Sierra. It is comforting to know that I can go 70mph safely if necessary to pass or get out of the way.

The tire has to be inflated to max pressure to carry the stated load rating, as pressure drops the carrying/load rating drops drastically also the tire flexes more causing heat build up which leads to failure. I always keep inflated to max pressure on my trailers.

I used to be less concerned about tire pressure at least on trailers and utility equipment. Maybe because the repercussions were never apparent. That all changed when after loading but under inflating a new perfectly good set of trailer tires, they ended up with torn belts and a nice egg shape. Useless. Lesson (an expensive lesson) learned.
