Your opinion is very valuable Bill. The costs of the paint jobs I have gotten from my friend Dave are not really all that outrageous. I have heard of $5k paint jobs on the same size trailer. At this point he is getting me for $2500 for something like the 59 Airflyte I'm doing now. Here in CA where all the supplies run around $800 to $1000 for everything including any chemicals for stripping, $2500 is not out of line for what I get. And I get a guarantee to boot. If Dave had had this problem pop up (pardon the pun) on one of my jobs I know that he would have started all over again. But so far I have never seen this problem till now so it did scare me a bit. I pass the cost to the client without charging anything on my end so it really doesn't affect my income in a negative way.
I have a couple of trailers that need paint and am going to go ahead and use them for my training and see how it all works out. In the mean time I sure hope things will work out for Paigenmarc.

I hope it works out for them also. I thought you said that the one red and white one cost you more than that but the point I was trying to make was that a quality job done by a professional shop isn't cheap. I believe that with a little prictice you will do a beautiful job painting your trailers, heck if I can do it anybody can.

No that was the price on the 57 Shasta. Also the 54 Westerner. But I sold that one for $3500 unpainted. She paid my painter to paint it and it came out great. I just visited that one on Sunday. The first day I was sick. I hope she doesn't get sick too. I told her to stay away while I was there doing a little repair on the trailer.

Well, I wanted to let everyone know that the painter came by yesterday and looked at the Siesta. I was at work, but he talked to Marc and he promises to make it right. I know I shouldn't be so skeptical, but I'll believe it when I see it. Marc said I must have scared him because he was singing a different tune when he talked to him. He sure didn't indicate to me that he was going to take care of it, so we'll see.

Maybe it is as simple as once he saw it he felt he or his product was responsible. I painted a quarter panel on a Ford Taurus for a young girl and used an an additive that had expired without me realizing it. The only good thing was I caught it before she did. The paint had to cure before the repaint was possible so I gave it to her told her to drive it a couple of weeks then when she had time I would repaint it. She did I did and everybody lived happy ever after. So hopefully he will redo it. If so a nice Thank You note would be good, if not then on to plan B. GOOD LUCK

Just letting everyone know that the guy did repaint my trailer for free. He did an okay job - not fabulous, but I'll take it. I hope it doesn't bubble up again!

Problems happen even to the best efforts of professionals. It's why they call them "practicing doctors". If Mercedes Benz never had a problem with one of their products they would not need to offer a free warranty would they?
I'm glad it was taken care of and I reverse my previous comment, "He is a Professional".

I'm glad he did it, too but I had to put the fear of God into him. He balked the first time I spoke with him, but when he came over, he was singing a different tune. My husband said I must have scared him

I'm glad it was taken care of and I reverse my previous comment, "He is a Professional". I have to disagree John. The first thing he tried was to blow it off. Then the husband had to put the fear of God into him. Then he did a less than professional job the second time around. To me this is someone who's motivation was not to be professional but to get out of this problem any way possible with the least amount of cost and effort to himself, and with little to no regard for the feelings of the customer.
Yes problems can happen and even professionals can make mistakes. But that's why we call them "professionals". Because a professional either does not make mistakes or takes care of them 100% without any outside influence at all. Why else would you pay a "professional" to do a job?

Thanks for the support Mobiltec. I agree completely - he shouldn't have given me grief about it right off the bat. I have to correct you on one little bitty minor thing - I'm the one who put the fear of God into him. He thought I was a crazy woman I'm sure. I let him know that charging me $2000 for a paint job that bubbled was completely unacceptable. Marc put the metal emblem and decals on today. I posted some pics in "What did you do to your trailer today?" and put a notice in the blog section. I think they look even better in person.
