I got my stove in the Holiday House and of course there is a leak somewhere along the manifold pipe where the cooktop valves, oven control/thermostat and main gas valve screws in. I'm going to spray with soapy water and try to narrow down which fitting is the culprit. Has anyone else had this issue and dealt with it?
Thanks

I'm hoping I got lucky... Sprayed some soapy water on the assembly today and it looks like the gas **** (awesome! pro-boards profanity filter won't show the word that rhymes with LOCK that goes after gas.... that's funny) is leaking. I cannot see any leaks where the burners or stove controls are tapped into the manifold pipe. From what I've researched leaks in gas cocks can usually be fixed by cleaning and re-greasing the assembly. Fingers crossed....

Probably - but the original is tapped into the manifold pipe and replacing it would cascade into removing other gas fittings from the thermostat, etc.... All probably doable but would like to avoid the challenge :-)

Fittings like that are hard to come by these days. It seems "one size fits all" when it comes to thread size and type.

Hey Congrats PT!
Okay, so to help others - Can you share what technique or chemicals you used to clean it all up?
BTW, I LOVE the interior of the burner cabinet on the top part of the stove. So free of rust! Also, the color on the door is very pleasing.
Nice work... as usual.

Thanks Rod -
Clean the old sticky grease residue off of everything with a rag, Q-tips and mineral spirits. Dab a thin bit of grease all over the tapered section of the handled piece, slide it in the cleaned tapered barrel that receives it and tighten things up. It turns much more easily and the grease itself helps with creating the seal that keeps it from leaking.
