Hi So I have installed a 15a system and inlet for when we are over at a friends or when there is only standard 15a available. Then have also installed a traditional 30a RV inlet and power system with AC and DC circuits.
So here is my question: How can I hook it up so that the fridge and small AC will run no matter which power source is supplying the electricity?
What would be perfect is a 'Y' Cord with one female and two males... one to a 15a outlet and the other to a 30a outlet. Naturally a warning plaque saying don't plug both in at the same time! ; )
Or perhaps a power switch that would switch at least the fridge from 15a to 30a?
I look forward to your thoughts! THANKS

Actually, I wouldn't have done it that way. A standard 30 Amp installation can be cheaply and quickly adapted to a 15 Amp outlet.
To your specific situation, I'd take out the 15 Amp stuff, and hook the fridge and ac to the 30.

So all hooked to the 30a system and then just an inlet adapter for 15a in when 30a in not avail. right? THANKS

The fridge will run on 15 amps. All smaller fridges are set up to draw no more than 13 amps. (usually a lot lower)
When the trailer is plugged into 30 amps, each fixture will only draw what is needed. The 30 amp camp outlet and your breaker box distribute UP to 30 amps but don't deliver all at the same time. Also, each breaker dictates how many amps each circuit will handle.
Your air conditioner should not be used with a 15 to 30 amp adapter. That would put a lot of stress on your trailer system. (under powered appliances tend to overheat the wiring) I would set up the air conditioner to unplug from the trailer system and plug in separately when you don't have a 30 amp service.

The AC is a small low NRG start 5000 BTU (and I have gotten it to run with a 1500watt generator!) so you are saying just have that with its power cord and plug it in separately if only 15a is available? Should run with 30a tho... its on its own 20a breaker with 10awg line. I wonder when or IF we will see a viable portable AC system like the Emmerson and KoolBreeze II that actually works?

I doubt we see anything affordable that actually works in the A/C department any time soon.
If the A/C is on a separate circuit, you should be good to go when powered by a 30 amp outlet and cord. Plug in separately if your power is limited.
I am guessing the adapter would be the first to go if you put too much on a 15 amp circuit. Scorched blades and very warm wiring will let you know. I've seen adapters with the prongs melted completly out of the rubber...

The Kapsul AC comes close and they are making strides in making smaller Compressors and lower power up wattage ACs... like with Batteries I feel we will see a lot of breakthroughs overthe next few years. Fingers crossed... www.kapsulair.com/
