Hey folks, sorry for the barrage of questions lately... getting finished up and the LAST piece I have to put on is the strikeplate. The original seems to be pot metal which appears to have once had a little flange on the back that is broken off. Is this an issue? Has anyone replaced their strike plate with a random one from a big box store? I have all new metal on the door frame and jamb so I won't be re-using any existing holes, etc. Here are two photos of my strike plate to try to show the detail of it. Thanks in advance! 2020-12-29_06-40-54 by t_in_maine, on Flickr 2020-12-29_06-40-41 by t_in_maine, on Flickr

I don’t think the missing tab will make a huge difference. I have replaced the strike plate with one from Lowe’s in the past. Although I think you’ll be fine. The hardest part is lining it up so that the door isn’t too loose or too tight. A lot depends on your weatherstripping/gasket around the door.
The nice thing about the tab is you can bend it slightly to tighten up the door if needed. Does that make sense?

Do you have any photos of this or a link to what might have been there on any of your Shastas?

This is what I've used.
Will this work for a strike plate?
