Hello, I just purchased this little pop up trailer, but have had no luck find any info or photos. It was apparently a rental back in the day. The previous owner said he heard they might have been rented to miners who where looking to strike a big claim? Any help is appreciated. Before I start the project I was hoping to figure out what it looked like when new. thanks url=https://flic.kr/p/2jNx8GV] [/url] IMG_3786 (1) by jeff burdick, on Flickr IMG_3785 by jeff burdick, on Flickr IMG_3783 (1) by jeff burdick, on Flickr

Cool little trailer. They may have made a few of these - but I'm guessing they never made enough of them to make a name for themselves. I did a decent amount of searching and came up with nothing. Does the clamshell part still open and close?

Yes it does. Has a dual spring assist. The tongue tad says American trailer and manufacturing co. The sign on the side says trailer-scope. I can’t find anything on these companies or the mechanical rental company. I haven’t found any photos of anything similar. I was hoping to see what it might have looked like originally.

Back in the good old days of drug stores with magazine racks, and affordable magazines, you could find Mechanic's Illustrated for 25 cents. Each month they had plans for all kinds of neat things you could build in your driveway. This looks like one of the many different trailer projects they would show. It's most likely a one off trailer.
The Miners trailers were towed by "four hoof" Burros, not "four wheel drive" pick up trucks. I think that rumor, is 50 to 100 years off.

I will be tight with four people. It definitely could be home built, but the signage from the rental company and the professional looking signage makes me think it was built by a company, maybe in small production for this rental company? Another odd thing is that is has a 120 volt space heater on the wall and a power out let inside, not something you would use in the mountains. I don’t know if there were large scale work projects where workers were put up in trailers where electricity was near by. Also, does anyone know anything about this type of rivet? Are they still available? flic.kr/p/2jNBMXuflic.kr/p/2jNB2cwflic.kr/p/2jNxowaflic.kr/p/2jNB2Pd
