I am super clueless when it comes to spraying paint so I thought I'd ask y'all your opinion. I am thinking of buying this setup to paint my Westerner. I know it's not a HPLV like most recommend but my compressor may not be up for the job and I can't afford a new one. Also, I figure I can paint the interior of my house with this airless sprayer, which it needs pretty soon. I like the simplicity of this setup but not sure how it applies the paint compared to a HPLV. Keep in mind I am not using automotive paint, I am using marine grade oil based enamel. Thanks! www.harborfreight.com/airless-paint-sprayer-kit-62915.html?utm_source=publitas&utm_medium=monthly-ad&utm_campaign=08202060600_W3 by

My experience is with painting houses using one and based on that NO! I have never been impressed with mine. I mean it does a good job on the house but I would never paint anything else with it.
I have a couple of cheap HVLP guns used with an air compressor and they are FAR superior. Much better control.

Airless spray guns put the paint on very heavy.

Not remotely suitable for painting a trailer.

Paint sprayers are good for hard jobs. I bought 1 to paint 28 new 6 panel house doors in 30 minutes. It would have taken 2 days to paint those 28 doors with brush & roller.
Some people think sprayers are good for BIG jobs but that is wrong. It takes 2 days to tape a house then 1 hour to paint it then a whole day removing all the tape and mess. It is 4 days work to tape & spray but 2 days work with roller & brush. Tape, paper, plastic, cost EXTRA money.
We painted our camper trailer with brush & roller in 2 hours work. I would upload a photo so you can see how nice it looks but but this forum does not allow uploads.

It's from the home page of this site. vintagetrailertalk.freeforums.net/thread/7276/add-photos-hosted-flickr-tutorial Btw, I am rolling and brushing my trailer. It's not great but it'll do for a few years until I can get it done by a pro. Thanks!

NC, are you kidding?! I've looked at that thread about 10 times to try and get my courage up to spray my trailer. Thank you for posting it btw! Almost sprayed her until I realized I'd need a new compressor, etc. I finally decided to just go ahead and paint her by hand with the marine grade paint I have. It should be done by this weekend. I figure we can get her painted by a pro or whatever in a few years. Right now I am running out of time, money and patience to get her done and on the road!
