I just began renovating a 1968 Aristocrat Lo Liner! I'm so excited about it. I do plan to maintain a certain vintage vibe but I'm not going for replica and one thing I have been mulling over is j trim. Do I need to use it for purposes other than the vintage look? I do plan to keep the awning rail I have on the roof currently, but for the rest of the trim I'm wondering if I could use aluminum angle/L channel. (Still sealed with butyl tape and hex screws of course.) Is there something functionally better about j trim or something not good about a regular angle? Any insight is much appreciated, thanks! (This is what I am thinking BTW - Aluminum Angle)

J rail acts as a drip rail and prevents water running straight down the trailer sides. I would keep the J rail.
