So background info. Rebuilding pull out goucho on my 57 deluxe. It looks like the ash faceboard sits on top of the pullout plywood. The problem I had was the attaching hardware. Glued clamped pre drilled and tried to screw in a wood screw. Half way in and it broke off. Abandoned that and nailed with 3D finish nails. I bent a few nails. Not pretty but done. Any future advice about attaching hardware to hardwood in the future. I like the ash but don’t want to go thru that again!

Pre-drill every time. Sometimes wax on the screw helps. I use screws designed to be driven by a drill/driver. The don't break as easily.

I will look into those screws. Ash is hard wood but pretty. Thanks for the advice.

I used all solid ash, ash plywood and panels. Cheep screws just tore right up. Square heads worked best but we used a lot of phillips as well. We used Lath Sharp Point Screws, predrilled or we used predrilled Finish Self Drilling Screws with Finish washers. Predrilling the correct size hole is key with the hard ash. Love the look though! Good luck!
