ALso - I am sorry when I use the link and copy the pic links in they don't show up and when I put them in the body of the text they don't show up either (I thought that was working last time) any tips? what am I doing wrong?

I'm able to see your pics. What are the large dia. round objects in some places? Couldn't tell if they are washers that are stuck in place, or are they some type of rivet? If the later, the heads would need to be drilled out.

Yup, those are rivets (with a hole in the middle) Use a sharp drill bit at the hole to remove them. The bit should be slightly bigger than the hole but not too much.
Put a couple of screws in place to hold the door while you're removing the rivets so it doesn't fall out and bean you.

What about passes with a heat gun to soften the black stuff? Would that work.
If you decide to get the multi tool, you should, it has all sorts of uses in the hobby.
Hey Multi tool experts, should Little Gemini use the straight non serrated blade (silver blade in the picture) to get in under the black stuff?

yes sorry was probably hard to tell from my pics but they are the washers that just kinda stuck to the metal after i removed the screws. the multi tool idea is a great idea - i have one but didn’t think of it! So basically it should pop out like the windows did? no other tricks or anything I have to do from the inside? thanks! |

If the sealant is only between the door frame and the trailer skin it will probably pull out after you cut through the black crap but no guarantees. If the previous owner used the sealant in other areas of the door frame it could make for a challenging situation. The only way to find out is dig in and see what you find  . Working on these trailers has helped me elevate my use of profanity to a near art-form working on issues like you are facing. Good luck |

Don't use the screws with washers when you rebuild your trailer. Also, they may have enlarged the holes if they were #10s. Glue dowels or toothpicks in the holes if they are enlarged so that #8s will work.

I will look into the new screws now as I am getting close to putting some stuff back on. Wish I had thought to look into a lumber yard - I was so confused as to why I couldn't find anything close to the size of the original lumber in the trailer. I don't have a table saw but was able to rip some pieces to the right size. Hopefully the trailer will go back together. |
