Hi friend’s. I’m on my way back to Canada after being in AZ and will be quarantined for 14 days. I’m not allowed to leave the house even for groceries so I can’t go to our warehouse to work on my trailer ... BUT... I happen to have all my windows at home and figure it’s a doable goal to get them done in 14 days and from what I hear it’s one of the jobs that people put off till the end so I think it will be good if I get it done now. So here are my three questions... 1. How do you know if the rubber gaskets are shot? 2. Recommended video to watch to learn how to do this? 3. Recommended products that can be ordered from amazon. I will need to order now and pick up at the border where there is a parcel place. How many gallons or containers? My trailer is 17 ft. My windows are the ones with the built in drip guard from the early 1960’s. 4 side windows 1 rear 1 front 1 bathroom 2 bunk windows 1 door window Thanks for any help you can offer.

You'll do fine with the products listed. The more elbow grease you use, the better the look on the window. Vic goes overboard and polishes every surface, even using little wheels and rouge...

@vikx So if I walk into an an automotive store and pick up a bottle of alluminim cleaner do I need to ask if it has acid on it, or is that a given?
That’s the only part I can’t really figure out

I like this polish. Although I've heard great things about Mother's. I like this acid:
If the windows have paint on them, I like this for fast removal: This for slower/safer removal. It works but as Larry has said, you may have to glob it on and leave it on all night. I like the gaskets from vintagetrailergaskets.com They often come with instructions Here is a tutorial on Hehr windows that may help: I think if you plan to keep the camper, replace every seal possible. At the very least, replace anything hard or dry rot/cracked. It will help if you locate the window number
For stationary windows replace the window glazing. Tutorial:

Thanks for the photos nccamper I have a friend with a window company so I think I am going to take the glass out of the one sealed unit. They can easily reset new glass for me. I don't want to do all this work only to have a trailer that leaks! I've even ordered a new roof because there was suspicious-looking junk on the old one and as I started scraping it I had no way of knowing if there were tiny holes. I am definitely keeping my camper. Ten-year project.. money pit... stipped to the frame... I think this thing has similar staus to my children in hierarchy lol. I think I will look for the alumibright online and see if I can get it shipped to my house in Canada. A few of you have mentioned that product. I bought a whole kit of attachments for my drill at Harbour freight in order to polish it. I have bigger polishers like a bench grinder and hand grinder, but I am a small person and I don't want to be injured by the kickback. I would rather take my time with elbow-grease and a drill attachment.

Not sure where in CA you're located, but if you have a NAPA near you, they sell a product under their name brand called Aluminum Brightener Haven't tried it yet, but it's reasonably priced $16.49 gallon US. Shipping might be pricey for an acid based product.?.
Oh, and btw, I remember you from Larry's classes. He actually had a video or three on rebuilding windows and installing gaskets.

I watched mobiltec s videos on polishing windows. They all start with “don’t try this at home” 😂

My advice...
Do it by hand, do it outside, do it with Advil handy.

Hi Friends, Here is my advice. Use a respirator. If the Blue Magic is anything like Mother's Mag Polish, it's going to have a chemical smell. I am sensitive to petroleum smells and always wear a respirator because I will get long lasting headaches if I don't wear one when i work with chemicals. BTW, for sealing up the window frames with gutter seal, I found this plastic syringe helpful for getting into tight spaces. I do wish the nipple was a little longer, but it helped. The gutter seal tube opening wasn't designed for tight spots like corners and it's nice for drawing a narrow bead if you need it. We got a few of these from our vet last year when our dog was sick. The syringe comes with the plunger inserted. You can with a little effort remove it. The syringe nipple didn't clog. The brand looks like Monoject for the syringe. I dumped about a half inch of gutter seal into the "base" of the syringe and then pushed the plunger down working the gutter seal out the nipple. Cheers, Rod

Cheers, Rod Can be found at your local farm store (Tractor Supply, Rural King, or better yet, local Co-op) Look in the horse / large animal area. I've even used the large diameter needle, and with my dremmel tool, cut it off square on the end to remove the point. Works good for tight corners.

I ended up ordering a two stage kit with some sort of acid and top polish from a place down here. Plus also bought some mothers mag polish for a finish polish.
Came down to finding something I could get here before I cross the border. Of course on the video for the kit they make it look sweat-less. I’ll know the truth in about a week when I get started!
