My new water tank is in- and I just need to add the drain. Can you show me what you have installed? I know it needs a valve so you can open it up when you want to drain the tank- but cant seem to figure out what to get. I know which hole to use, and that I need to put the drain tube through the floor- but what did you use ?
Here is the tank before being installed - I know its upside down too !! I did put it in with the fill on the top- no worries
Good timing - I just did this within the last couple weeks. Tough to see in the last photo - but look at the bottom right of the tank. The drain is all Shark Bite/Home Depot equivalent fittings. They're spendy but make things so easy.
You need a fitting like the one linked below to screw into the tank - mine was 1/2 to 1/2. I only used ONE WRAP of teflon tape and it seals the fitting in the tank without stretching the tank fitting.
Get a 8ish inch length of properly sized 1/4 or 3/8 tube that fits your valve and drill a hole in the floor (Make sure you're not directly above a steel frame piece like I was) . You will need to put the tank in with the drain already installed - so using a flexible tube is important. Home depot had flexible tubing right next to the shark bite fittings.
How it looks on my tank - tough to see but maybe it will help.
