Good afternoon everyone! I've recently purchased an 84 Shasta Camper, that I've parked out on some land and will be using entirely as a stationary hunting/camping shelter. It came with zero paperwork and I have even less knowledge on using the features of a camper like this.
I'm looking for an owners manual that anyone might have for an 84 Shasta (2100) to help understand how to work the water heater/heater/propane fridge/freezer and stove. I'd also be curious about the wiring present, because someone may have added some over the years in addition to the single low voltage trailer plug that goes into my vehicle's towing package. The propane and electric on this thing is very confusing to me. I'm a very handy person, so with a little direction, I'm certain I could figure the rest out. Anyone out there able to offer some help on controlls, etc?
My Camper will make use of a single 100w solar panel with 1 or 2 deep cycle 12v batteries to keep the fridge running on concert with the propage fuel. I'll also plan to make use of the battery bank via an inverter to provide 110 inside the camper. I figure that I can use the ceiling 12v lighting by hooking up one of the many cables (at the towing tongue) to power them along with the fridge freezer etc. This should be plenty of power to use on the weekends while allowing charging time between ventures (via 100w panel).
Anyone have any information or manual that could shed some light?
Respectfully,
David

Hiya SusieQ, thanks so much for getting back to me- I appreciate it. Pages 7 and higher do not seem to be full sized? The first 6 loaded wonderfully. Do you by chance have the remainder of them scanned? It looked like according to the contents page the electrical and propane info was several pages deeper?
Thank you again for your efforts, I'm going to be trial and error otherwise!
Sincerely,
David

David,
That link is from the old site. Someone here probably knows the person who posted those pics. I'm sorry, but I do not. But I'll let you know if I come across any other resources! There is probably someone here who could help you out if you post specific questions. I'm sure there is. There might be something in the plumbing and wiring threads here or on the old site that could help you out, too.

Hello David and welcome!
Your trailer should have a converter for your 12 volt system. Most 84 trailers have 12 volt lighting, water pump, furnace, a cigar plug and other items. The battery provides power if you are not plugged into shore power. So...you won't need to plug into the tow wiring for 12 volts.
The converter is a rectangular box, usually with 110 breakers on one side and 12 volt fuses on the other. 12 volts come from the battery (on the tongue)to the converter fuse block. 110 comes from the 30 amp trailer cord when plugged in. The converter "converts" 110 power to 12 volts for your lights and other items. It automatically switches from 110 to 12 volts, depending on the power source (battery or shore power)
Hopefully, your fridge doesn't need 12 volts to operate. Propane is much more efficient with no battery drain.
Hope this small overview helps. Please feel free to post individual questions in our various repair categories. We have a lot of great members to help!

Hey, thanks a lot for the info- very helpful stuff. Knowing that cord & 110 system is 30 Amps will help me mate my generator up to it on occasion too. We are a couple miles from shore power.
The tongue wiring (not the trailer plug) included 1 hot and a negative, along with another unknown smaller guage wire that someone had bundled against the negative. I got the propane fridge running today, after hooking those tongue lines to a battery. Still not sure what that other wire is for- any ideas?
I mounted a 100w (5amps) solar panel to the roof today and because I'm staying put, I'm putting a couple deep cycle batteries in the storage area inside the RV and rerouting that wiring to there for a battery bank. I figure at less than 1/4 amp an hour draw from the fridge that panel will keep the fridge running no problem and the extra space for batteries will be double good for security against theft.
I got carried away. Again, really appreciate your kindness and helpful info!
