Hello!
My wife and I have been considering restoring a vintage camper for some time now. After lurking around a few sites/forums and watching hours of videos posted by mobiletech (Thanks Larry!) we finally felt confident enough to hunt down a project.
We looked at so many different types and styles of campers that we could not make up our minds where to start. We thought we wanted something small but with kids still at home, we really needed something that we would all be happy with. Just a month or so ago, we came across this 17' Mobile Scout born and raised right here in DFW.
Exterior and interior are all original. All of the appliances and lights work (except for the AC - it just blows hot hair) and other than some window and door frame rot (stove vent too), she's not too intimidating (floor and skirt all the way around are nice and solid).
Besides being a tandem axle trailer and having enough room for the family, what really sold us on this camper was that she was built right down the road in Arlington and has lived her life right here in the metroplex (we will be the 3rd owners). How cool is that?!
We are excited to get started on this project but we've committed to watching more more videos from Larry and reading more information here before we do. Thank you in advance to everyone here that contributes because without all that you do we would not have the confidence to do this camper justice!

Welcome Cas, looks like a fun project. Surely, you didn't mean the A/C blows hot HAIR??? Sorry, just had to dig at you a little. Since it already has an air conditioner, you should be able to replace that, as the trailer is already framed for one.

I don't know where the AC is on this trailer. But if you are looking for a top mount, Dometic now makes a very low profile and light weight AC unit for RVs. You might want to look into that.

I assumed the old one was already mounted on the roof....

Hey Cas,
Welcome, and congrats on your find. Very cool trailer.... We are also in the DFW area, Frisco to be exact. Nice to have a neighbor here on the board. I am in the process of updating our recent find as well.. Good luck, and keep us posted with lots of pics!!

Well... it was hot.. and blowing my hair so I guess I was technically and accidentally accurate. LOL
Yes... it has a Coleman roof unit and a Coleman (I believe) furnace under the fridge (shown in that second pic) and there is a thermostat on the wall above the sink, though I think it likely only controls the furnace.
We're still in discovery mode and details on this model camper are not coming out from hiding very well.
