I have just purchased a Shasta 1961. It is beautiful in my eyes but yes needs to be checked over for hidden issues. I'm hoping to learn how the floor heater worked. Do you get an RV place to check over the gas lines and appliances for safety or is it better to search out someone who does vintage type work.

Welcome! If you're not comfortable hooking up a propane tank and checking for leaks, pay an RV shop. I'd replace the old heater with a Wave3 or 6.
I always start with the framing, move to electrical and then skin, cabinets, with the gas lines last. In truth, there is not much to check on a Compact gas line. It's two or three feet to the stove and 4 or 5 feet to the heater.

Here are some photos that I took today. I had a gas fitter come this afternoon. The lines are good with no leaks. The stove/oven work with no issues and there is gas to the light on the wall but I suspect I will never use it. The floor heater had a mouse house in it, some change and a few pounds of gravel. Once he cleaned that out he let me know that I should be looking for an alternative heat source. He feels that it could be fixed but will require substantial investment of time and parts sourcing. So checking out the Wave heaters as suggested. I'll leave the heater as is and may one day make the investment just because. www.flickr.com/gp/169610497@N08/J5o25eThank you for the information suggestions I will check them out.

I don't think there is one of these left on the East Coast. Color me jealous.
