Just curious if anyone has found a good database on the Kenskill trailers. I have what is suppose to be a 56 but how do I know for sure? I have the model and original vin number even though the PO couldn't find it and had DMV issue a new one. I don't find much about the 56 and even less on the 15'. Also wondering if anyone has ever talked to anyone that worked at the factory back in the late 50s or early 60s. I'm sure they would be out there if there were any young guys in there 20s they would just be in their 80s now. I have met a guy that has a vin just 2 numbers away from mine and he says his is a 56 as well so that made me feel better. I would like to decipher the vin number just for the heck of it.

You may have to strip the tongue to find the original VIN. They are usually on the top, door side. Be careful, because old VINs can disappear with rough treatment.
Does the VIN have 56 in it anywhere? Lots of older hams listed the year, length and a serial number. Not sure on Kenskills. They were very well built trailers.

We did find the vin on the frame. It wasn't until we were cleaning up the frame that my wife found it. It was on the curbside real close to the body of the trailer on the outside face of the tongue towards the bottom edge. You can't really see it now that it has been repainted, but I have pics. Vin # Z43672, I can't really decipher it so there must be a key to make sense of the numbers.

So your number has nothing to do with length, weight, model, year or anything else. Just progressive numbers out of the factory.

Thanks Larry you kinda blew that excitement. lol So what about the serial #16263? And I know of a twin to mine that has a serial #16261. Thes are both model #165 and are built in 1956. The floor of the trailer is 12’ but the longest part of the trailer box is about 13’3” and 15’ to the tongue.

And I believe Zieman is still making frames today.

Yes I know that is the Kenskill number. I was hoping you had a way to identify it from the serial. I know some have coded meanings like VIN numbers.

Oh no Im sorry I have no information on that part. There is a grandson somewhere if you can find him and he knows a lot about how the company worked. I haven't had contact with him for a long time now.
