Hi Friends, I am trying my hand at organizing a vintage travel trailer rally. Here are the details. Dates: May 3 - 5, 2019 Location: Ventura, California - In a vintage travel trailer park. Place: Waypoint Ventura Vintage Trailer Hotel and RV Park, 398 S Ash Street, Unit E, Ventura, California 93001 Come and join us for an intimate gathering of vintage travel trailers in a unique setting - A vintage travel trailer park hotel. Participants are only a 7 minute walk from the Ventura Beach Pier and beach. This cozy rally and laid back event features just 15 sites with full hook-ups(water, electric and sewer) and free wifi. Activities include a meet and greet on Friday night, nightly s’mores around the fire pit, and a group-walk down to Ventura Beach and pier on Saturday. No formal open house - Just share your trailer and open it to new friends. An added bonus - You might also want to enjoy the rally by reserving a night in one of the luxuriously restored vintage travel trailers that are permanently in the RV Park. Complimentary bicycles are available for use to participants. See the website WaypointVentura.com for pictures and details. Historic downtown Ventura is within walking distance to many fine eateries, breweries and antique shops. All reservations can be made through the vintage trailer park website WaypointVentura.com or by calling 805.888.5750. There is a rally discount of 10%. The discount code is “Rally!” For non reservation questions, contact me, Rod Wylie – VintageRodandReel@gmail.com Check in can be as early as 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3. You just need to call to verify the day before. 4 sites have already been reserved, leaving only 11. If you usually anchor your awning with stakes, you should have a back up plan such as weights, cinder blocks or water filled buckets. Stakes to anchor awnings at the site are as yet untested. I hope you can make it. Rod

Thanks for posting Rod. What are the fees for this rally?

Hi Vikx,
Good question.
The fees are typically $69 per night without fees or taxes when you bring your own vintage trailer and stay. For Friday and Saturday night of the rally dates, that would be a total of $138. However, the owners are offering a 10 percent rally discount when you use the promo code in my initial post and stay for 2 nights. That brings the cost down to $124.20 for 2 nights, but then you have to pay taxes and a Transiency Occupancy Tax (TOT) of 10% which you would have to pay anywhere you stay in a hotel. So, that puts back $12.42. There is also the VCWBID fee or Ventura County West Tourism Business Improvement District fee of $2.48. Finally, add good ole taxes to Uncle Sam and that’s $14.90
So, what does that all really mean?
For the two nights of the rally it will cost you $139.10 “out the door” or equivalent to $69.55 a night. The owners did tell me if any participants came in a day or two earlier or stayed a day or two later, the 10 percent discount would apply to those nights as well.
Let me know if there are any other questions.
Cheers,
Rod

Ventura is as far from here as you can get. Sounds fun.
Have you considered holding it in Asheville NC?

You first. Hi Friends, This rally is now full. Once it went to Facebook, it filled up in jiffy. A friend of mine who started a rally two years ago posted it to his group and it filled up soon after. The host site has started a waiting list for cancellations. Cheers, Rod

That way it would have been mostly people you know instead of "any yahoo with a putty and paint trailer from the 70s or 80s". When I hold a rally it is invitation only. That's the way we used to do it back in the day before rallies became commercialized. But I'm not raining on your parade. It takes once or twice to get it down. Have fun and we expect lots of photos.
