Sorry if this has been discussed previously, BUT has anyone ever put together a picture of a trailer with the correct names of all the pieces. I am only asking because I am confused about some names of the parts. I would call them one thing and everyone else calls it the correct name. It would make my explaining or descriptions of parts and pieces easier for everyone else. If someone can direct me to a place where I can find this information out, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Bill

I am a auto mechanic by trade so I have customers that have strange names for car parts.
Soup has given me some points for my rebuild.
Where are the sill sticks? What are cheater sticks? Bottom side Foundation Board?

Tomato Tomoto Ketchup Catsup When I was writing you I called same parts different names to expose you to all the "other" terms for parts. All depends on where in the country your from and what skills set you have in your history. I hope someone here will tell us the correct terms due to me not knowing! LOL Pics are worth a thousand words... (sorry I'm so lame!) Wish I could be more help but I'm a doer not a talker HA HA!! Just remember....THINK "House of Cards" That is what you are working on. Too much removed in too many areas and the house of cards lean to one side and flattens out into a deck of cards next to the frame. (Known as then being a "Frame Off" restoration!)

Soup That pictorial really clears up many questions. I am from Ontario Canada so all of you (Y'all) may get confused by my words.

Soup That pictorial really clears up many questions. I am from Ontario Canada so all of you (Y'all) may get confused by my words. Back at ya eh! I really have no clue to correct terms but I usually put in short cheater sticks in 4 corners against walls to over lap floor to hold the walls up while I replace the foundation board. If I'm working in front I'll cheat the ceiling too, then move that ceiling cheater to the back when I do the back wall but the short cheaters screwed into the walls at floor in 4 corners usually will hold up any wall repairs you have to do until the paneling gets done. Once the bottom board is accomplished I repair 1 side, front and back corner upright sticks. (then any side wall frame sticks that are rotted too). After the sides are done as far up as needed, then do back (worst) wall then front wall. Some builds the paneling and wall framing is easier from outside. Some you can do from inside. Others are combo, just depends on the unit.

Gawd, I love having Soup here! Bill, around here, confusion rules! HA HA #10! I didn't intend to take over the thread. Glad to have you here too. I'm just a simple old dude making simple repairs and horrible spelling errors! It's all abstract, amazing powers of organic observation, problem solving on the fly, and engineering.

And some, Shasta Compact to be specific, are just made out of sticks. Sounds like the 3 Little Pigs And ya'll wouldn't believe the difference in language between Mississippi and Virgina. You'd think I'd moved North of the Mason/Dixon line but I'm 60 miles from the Capitol of the Confederacy. Wish I had time to make blueprints of my trailer... might want to find a trailer and build one from scratch (yeah, keep thinking about that trailer on Craigslist).

I don't think you are taking over the thread, but rather answering the question! I was being genuine there, Soup...I love the work you do and the way you share it...you have a great way of narrating and illustrating and making things clear to folks like myself who are looking to learn! You are a simple old dude making simple repairs, making them simpler for the rest of us old dudes! A genuine "thank you" for that. Confusion still rules though......

Soup can't call the parts by there real names because this is a family forum. and chunks of wood doesn't get it either. That is why we like pictures.

I call your edge wood "curbing"... I heard it called that years ago but I don't remember where.

Isn't the awning rail also called "Keder Rail"? And Mobiltec, I've seen "curbing" used elsewhere, too.
Coldham posted a thread with the term "Belly Pan" and I was clueless at first.

Every design group located in different parts of the world called things by what ever background their previous experience came from, and some created new names just to appear more modern or important. Sometimes I think they sometimes called parts by different names to prevent people from comparing their parts to others.
