So we painted 2 weeks before our family vacay. We wanted to paint earlier, based on nccamper's recommendations but the weather didn't cooperate. We gave into fatigue and didn't get the bottom coat on thick enough. In addition after 2 weeks on the road through mountains and baking in a desert sun, we had a plastering of bugs (only on the front).
I did try to rinse them off once during the trip and when we got home and they didn't budge, then life took over.
Now I'm trying to get the bug guts off and it's proving to be very difficult. I'm using elbow grease and tried a little bug/tar remover (which did nothing) so I'm back to elbow grease.

Unfortunately, it appears some paint is coming off with a few of the bugs:

Granted they are small and i'd be inclined to just try to forget about them but I did some putty tape trimming before washing and this happened: (it is interesting though because the eyebrow was put on after the paint, the painted edge is under the window frame, what does this mean?)

This didn't really surprise me because I saw a little edge peel above another window when I attached the eyebrow.
I'm thinking because of all the dents and bumps in this area, I didn't get all the paint thinner cleaned off or it didn't get sanded enough and I probably figured it wouldn't matter as it was "under the window frame".
We were already planning on repainting the bottom, but I really didn't want to repaint the top. My husband wants to fill in the frustration marks:

But I'm concerned about adhesion.
Our plan was to re-sand and clean the entire bottom, paint is very thin, and put on a couple more coats.
As far as the yellow, I didn't really want to paint the whole thing, but now.......... thinking of maybe just sanding and repainting the sides.
We painted before windows and Jrail and I'm concerned that if we try to tape it all we're going to end up with some putty painted, some not, no clean edges (I would remove the eyebrows only). I would probably be more unhappy with that appearance than I would a couple of flakes on the front.
Since it's ace enamel I also thought about "touching up" above the windows with a brush (sand just that area, clean) but would it just peel off as well?
So, suggestions and thoughts from the experienced please:
Ok to sand and paint a month after original coat?
Anybody have good ways to remove bug goo?
