On shipping one: $2.50 a mile is basic cost. There may be extras too. So that gets pretty expensive fast. They would have to give me the trailer before that would be cost affective. I've called two sources about that.
Yes, indeed, that one would go with my low rider truck just fine. I've seen another one of those online too. Way cool. Wayne

A little new but interesting still. Especially the 18' 1969. But jeese, just so far away. Everything I find is like at least a thousand miles from here, too big, or way to expensive. Of course when your in Houston the Texas border is a thousand miles. West or north it takes a full day to drive out of the state from here. east is not so bad. He'll end up selling the thing before I could get him the cash. I've lost a couple deals that way already. Wayne I sort of made a ridiculously low offer on something on Ebay that I thought was way to high, but chances are very thin.

The 66 Yellowstone was of interest to me and I contacted the guy but he thought he had it sold. I found out today that it did indeed sell on Wednesday. There was a very similar Bowls Aero for sale at the same time. IT was listed in the morning on Ebay and I emailed that party as well but by evening I guess it was sold locally, as well, and taken off Ebay. I'm not having very great luck on this quest. Wayne

Now that is one to consider. I'd rather have a 56 than a 66, or up to about 62. And $5000 is a little out of my price range but still doable maybe. He has spent some money in advances so I wouldn't have too. I don't mind a trip to Denver. I certainly know the drive. We were living in Longmont, outside Boulder for 6 years. We did the drive several times a year at least. I found the "now stolen" Lodger there in Longmont. It also comes with paperwork. Thanks Wayne

I know you are probably right Vikx. Someone posted a few pics for me of a Yellowstone and the sills were on top of the floors. But then the floors may be rotted under the sills and I would have to lift the whole shell up and roll the frame out to replace the floor. So ,yea, the lower skins would likely have to be removed, but then even that's better than everything. I learned with the Lodger than on a trailer of any size it's hard to remove all the skins and get them back on straight. Wayne

Hi, cute little trailer. But, I'm looking for one with at least a 16 foot long box, up to about 20 feet maybe so I can put in a bathroom with a toilet and shower. my wife will not camp in it otherwise. I took a road trip to Seattle about 10 years ago to deliver a load of furniture,I built,to a sorority house at The university. My god, that's a long way. I passed through 9 states, I think. That would make that trailer a bit expensive when the trip cost was added in. I'm not sure it could be pulled 2700 miles either. Thanks for thinking of me though. There is a really cool trailer on ebay, (an old Masterbuilt) right now, in Northern Calif. My take is that his reserve is high. and it will not sell this time. Anyone who knows anything about restoring on of these will not want to pay his asking, is my thought. It's not in as good a shape as he seems to think it is either and the trip , for me, of 2100 miles seems way long for the shape it's in. not to mention the expense of the trip added to the trailer cost. Basically what one is buying is a frame some windows and a pattern for building a new one. (Yours included) What I'm looking for is a late fifty's, early sixty's, 19' Yellowstone,Fan, or Terry. there are a few others with the same configuration. the body's of all them seem to be well put together and solid. I'm hoping to find one with little body damage and repair needed to the aluminum so I could just reseal it polish and remove all the interior to the studs and replace the rotted pieces from the inside. I have no inside space here at the Houston house to work on one if I have to take it completely apart. I would have to build some sort of cover over it. Hoping to avoid that. I may be unrealistic about my chances of actually doing that though. That remains to be seen. Of course there are many interesting trailers out there, some I've never even heard of, like that old Masterbuilt, that I would be interested in too, but I really do need that general size range. I noticed a Airflite trailer on ebay too, but he wants $22,000 for a trailer that still needs to be completely rebuilt. Wow. Wayne

It's a cute little camper and nearly what I'm looking for, mid fiftys, aluminum, and nice shape but if it's not big enough for a bathroom, toilet and shower, my wife will not camp in it. I really do want to thank you guys for posting these listings though. It's very hard to do Craig's list away from your own area. AT least very effectively. I've had two, so far, that I was ready to buy and lost the deals, and another one I wanted, but it was too far and the wife thought 25' was too big. That's true, but damn, I could have made that thing a palace on wheels. I don't know why she doesn't see that. Wayne

A little modern, not quite what I'm looking for, but a nice trailer and a realistic price. There is a 25' Fan in Michigan for the same price, but the trip is just too expensive and it wouldn't be much of a vacation straight up and back with a trailer. 1300 miles from Houston.

A lot of folks are looking at the old rotting camper that they haven't used in decades and hoping they have a gold mine in the back yard. The 64 in Ill. is pushing my outer limit on age. I'm looking for about 62 as my cutoff, or older. I'm not too crazy about the shape either but I guess the right paint job could go a long way.
What I'm looking for the most is like the Richardson or the Fan in shape. Yellowstone, Fan, Terry,Bowls Aero. Several others all had a similar shaped trailer often with two doors on the curb side. Late 50's to about 64 maybe. I've found two now, about 19', ( perfect) but lost both before I could make a deal or get to them because of distance. I emailed the guy with the Richardson and that one is a 29' trailer, way too long for my needs. His wife wants to sell an airstream they have and keep that for themselves anyway. His price reflected too much attachment to it too. Maybe $4800 for "that size" is OK though. $7300 was way out there. This is turning out to be harder than I thought. Wayne
One more thing on pricing, I noticed that very cool Spartan on ebay for $85,000 is now dropped to $30,000.

Ok, so my phone was totally dead this morning and I waited to get it charged before calling on the fan. Strange he didn't list the area code with the number so I can't call. I did an email response though so we'll see. That trailer is at least 16 ft and might even be 19 which would be perfect.

When I was a kid growing up in Tulsa, we went trailer camping, (we started out in a tent ), at Roaring River state park just across the boarder from Eureka, in Missouri. Every year for years. My aunt and uncle had a lodge at Grand Lake in that same corner of Oklahoma they ran as a business. We would often go there for several days at a time too.We usually took a trip to Eureka on any of those trips. In the late 50's it was mostly junk shops and was such a cool place to explore. 1964 may be the last time I was there. I know I'm sharing too much here, but one trip to Eureka we took off from the lodge in my aunt's 58 Buick, green on black, loaded, a real boat. My dad had perfect direction sense so he just took a road that was totally unmarked, going in the general direction of Eureka Springs. A fire road, we decided later, when it turned to gravel with no signs at all. Every house we saw and came to was abandoned, it's hard to farm up there, unless you are raising pet rocks. We finally found a farmer and asked directions but he spoke some foreign language and we got hardly any help from him. When we finally got to a highway we came out just above Eureka Springs. MY father had done it again. We had such a great time being lost. .Now to the best part of the story. along the way we came to a stream we had to ford, it was very shallow though. There must have been something in the water there because there were something like a million butterflys there, of all kinds. Everything natural to that area. They were sitting in groups of their own kind, mostly, on the wet rocks in the stream and the air was totally full of them. We stopped and had our lunch there on the bank with the butterflys. totally amazing.I was maybe 10 years old.
