It looks like a decent little trailer in great shape. IT appears to have been stored inside too. That would be great. If you see "any" water staining or damage on the inside paneling there will be worse damage behind it. That stuff will show, like swollen areas, where there is any damage, even very light damage. Non of these small trailers are all that well built, even the really nice older ones,so cherished here, by all of us.But by 75 the materials were getting just a bit worse for quality. The nice birch was gone and replaced by pre finished paneling, like on that trailer, often on even weaker sub-straits.The grain is not wood but a photo of wood glued down to the sub strait. I'm just trying to be realistic here, it is a nice trailer but not quite classic so the actual value may be lower than, say a really nice 60's trailer. Newer, like 80's and 90's, trailers used hard have little value at all. Even Airstreams go for cheap if not in really good shape. But I'm sorry, I really don,t have a number for you. Personally I'd only go a few thousand for it, well short of 10,000. Just because I don't like the look of that time period.Again it's a nice trailer, by the photos, and an ok deal if the seller isn't greedy. Check it over very carefully. Wayne

Thanks Vikx. (I'll get off Uppie89's site after this. This could be considered rude.) I put a button on the Silver Lodger site to go to my house and the work that has kept me from the trailer for two years. Wayne

The Silver Lodger is 16' long. I am adding a bath as well. I am also a cabinet and furniture maker. Good luck, it's really a cool trailer.

Wow, what a find. that's a cool trailer. How long is it? Does it come with a bathroom? Is the frame as you found it or did you have to do some welding on it? IT looks just like the mods I did to mine. Yours is framed in the same manner i did the Silver Lodger when it all prover to be beyond any hope or saving. I'll be following this one. If I can get started back on mine soon we might end up running almost parallel. My outside is almost completed and I need to start the interior work now.Way cool. Wayne 1949 Silver Lodger WWW. Silverlodger.com (I wish someone woule show me hos to do a link on here)

Some other company tried this about 6 or 7 years ago. with a 12 footer I think. They didn't get very far with it before another company bought them and they, the latest company stopped the whole deal because it just didn't fit in with their giant road condos with three slide outs and 6 TV's. I thought the trailers were cute but sort of low tech. They just had a hot plate for a stove and some other stuff like that. a moderm version with little frills. I couldn't tell if they had a market or not. Still not all that sure if they will sell. I would hope they would be built better than the old ones which were indeed built like crap. On that note, there is a list somewhere of industrial design things that were so successful they deserve to be on such a list. Things like the Volkswagen beetle, the 1911 Colt 45 Simi automatic, the Vespa scooter, The Remington typewriter, The Sunfish sailboat. If it isn't, the Shasta trailer should be on the list too, regardless of how poorly they were assembled. You can't knock success so no wonder there are still people trying to remake them. In the modern world of rolling condos I just don't know how people really want a new throw back trailer. We'll see, I guess. Wayne

So, that bad huh? I'll get that off in a few. I have a question? Why are trailer sides secured to the rails instead of onto the floor. ( you mention this in one of your utubes)I rebuilt mine back on the floor thinking that it would be so much stronger than a hand full of single sheer fasteners that might rust out and let go. Will that cause me problems? Other than replacing flooring pieces. Wayne

OK, so, Larry, did you get my PM, OR do I have to wait until later to send it? That wasn't quite clear in the post from admin. Also I love the series of videos, you do a great job with them even doing your own camera work, and that's hard. I saw the thing about your eye, don't know the time frame. Are you better of still layed up? I'm really hating this shoulder injury because all my projects are on hold until I can move my left arm above my head or out from my body. Like you, I'm a project guy I have no idea what to do without a project. So if you are not well yet get well soon and get back to work before you go crazy. Anyway, keep up the good work. For the next few months I'm going to be on here a lot as I have so much spare time now. So I hope you guys don't get tired of me. YOU can tell me to shut up if you need to. Or ask me questions about building. Wayne

Oh. that's you? I've just been watching the Shasta rebuild tapes. I had nothing to do today and I might have overdone it yesterday on my arm trying to get the computer set up down in the house. We have been living in the garage apartment while I did a full remodel and the computer is the last thing to come down. We are now living in the big house and using the apartment as a guest house again. My wife is thrilled. I had to promise not to touch the trailer until the house was done. Should I put up a few shots of the house? Off subject I know, but it's my web site. The next thing I will do is build a nice door on the trailer since it was missing when I got the thing. Wayne

hey, thanks for the comments.
The overall plans are to keep the outside looking about as old as it is, only polishing the aluminum as best as I can. The surface is pitted with tiny indents so it will only get so good. You can tell from the front and rear that it will come along pretty nicely though. It has an old, 1940's shape anyway. But it's kinda cool. On the inside I want to bring it up pretty upscale. I'm a furniture builder and I can do really nice work for just the cost of materials. I'm hoping to keep cost to maybe $11,000 total. I'm already in about $3,500. I may do the interior in pecan, I'm still thinking. My oldest boy is an Architect. He will help with material decisions too. He did a fine job on our house. I know I should be more modest but I have mad skills, it should come out really cool.
Right now I'm recovering from a rotator cuff reattachment surgery. I'll start drawings in the next couple weeks. It will be a few months before I can really get back to work. I can't raise my left arm yet. Oh, yes the car was my last project. It's a Locost 7 from the book 'How to build your own sports car" I need to get the link working back from the trailer site to the Locost site. Texaslocost.com It is a copy of a 62 Lotus 7 built from scratch, Real fun. it was a blast in Colorado. Not quite as fun here in the flat lands. Houston streets really suck too. So many holes and bad bumps.
A number of people have commented on those wheel wells. I would love a real Mainline badge. Mine is a vinyl copy I had made.
