We've just upsized from a 1957 Shasta Special (13' pre-compact) to a 1960 Shasta Deluxe 19'. The Deluxe is rotted in the back, so that's where we've starting working. Found a Vaillant Superieur water heater, the original Norcold refrigerator (propane only), and a pressurized water system. Lot's of new things to learn about.

Started working on the rear end. Big surprise we found rot. Here are some pics. I am puzzled though. The luggage compartment doors are larger than the opening - the plywood extends down about 2-3 inches into door. I'm wondering if the bed has been lowered in the past. Does anyone know the height of a 1960 bed? I also see there are built in bed supports on the cabinets. Would love to see pictures of the way the bed should look. Any suggestions about what these wood posts are on the bathroom cabinet. Two more on the end of the cabinets facing the bed. Another on the front wall under the table. flic.kr/p/26zrqpVflic.kr/p/27Svsufflic.kr/p/26zq6X6flic.kr/p/KP3D97flic.kr/p/25cd3eU

Can't help you much with the Deluxe, but how much do you want for that "pre Compact" I've never heard of one before, and THAT is one cute little camper!

The pre Compact has moved to Indiana. Found an owner who has a convertible that has the same paint color.

Congrats on your upsized trailer, the Deluxe is really a nice one for a family with all the “amenities.” A question about your 1957... I’ve only seen one other picture of one and never one in person. Does it have a 10 foot box? Is the layout the same as the Compact? I guess I’m just intrigued with all things small.

The 57 Shasta Special had the dinette in the front, kitchen in the middle and 3/4 bed in the rear. The kitchen was a 3 burner cook top over an icebox, and a sink. The only thing that popped out at us as being different than a normal 57 Shasta was there were no side windows up front. It just had the large window that opened and the two non-opening windows beside it. There was no cabinet above the sink, when we got it, but the marks on the ceiling told us there was one, so we replaced it. The original water tank, was rectangular about 2 inches thick. It stood on its side in a rack along the sink. Next to the door was a single wardrobe that we put shelves in for more storage.

Interesting that the 57 special didn't have the infamous leaky dinette windows... was the wood in that area in OK condition?

The front corners were rotten as was the base of the streetside wall. Rear corners were also rotten, and the entire floor needed replacing.
