Hey guys, I read an article on the difference between wooden and steel doors which changed my mind to firmly believe that steel doors are the best option for houses and trailers. Correct me if I'm wrong for I am not an expert in this area. Please help me out here, my dad has an old trailer which requires a bit of repair work on the door frames. We're reconsidering replacing the entire door and fitting in new ones. Thanks, Ryan

Welcome Ryandrake.
I think more research is needed before you make a decision. Steel doors tend to have severe rust and are too heavy.
I would rebuild the one you have rather than change everything. Doors are easy, believe it or not.
Do you have any photos?

I agree with vikx. If you can rebuild your original door you'll be light years ahead. Mine was completely rotted (bottom 1/2) and I found the disassembly pretty straight forward using basic tools. I was able to remove the old wood and cardboard webbing / guts and replace with new wood and rigid foam insulation. Took the better part of one day. I'm sure my door is a little heaver because of the extra framing...but nothing like a steel door. Good luck.
