Rebuilding my bench seats. Question- since the bench seat bases were not in one piece when I got this camper- I want to make sure I do this right. Am I correct in assuming a piece of plywood went over the support slats ( 3 - not in yet) and then the bench cushions sat on that? Or do the cushions just sit right on the horizontal supports? The cushion have been redone and are beautiful- I just don't know if there was something under them. Thanks IMG_2927 by kathy, on Flickr

There is usually a little 'lip' of ply in the front of the dinette to hold a thin piece of ply in place. I often add a slat or two for more support. I also drill a finger hole to lift the ply. In other words, the slats sit on a support board that allows the ply to sit slightly below the rim of the dinette face. Hope this makes sense.

These dinette benches would have originally had the innerspring framed seats, rather than just foam cushions. The framing supplied the support so there were no slats. I'll see if I can dig up some of my photos from the Airflyte.

If you are going to use cushions instead of framed innerspringed seats I can show you what I did with the Super Shasta.... Got my feet in the foot photo contest! There is a ledger on the wall as well with a couple of supports going from the bottom of it to the floor.
