Welcome bruceow! Most places we camp don't have a clear TV signal so we went with downloaded movies with netflix and Amazon. To be honest, I watch TV at night with my earbuds...my wife likes silence while she reads.

We use exactly the same TV antenna that the original owners would have used in Hamlet back in 1959: But were purists.

Rabbit Ears. If you are camping in the hills, the signal will be lost anyway...

Not entirely on topic, but a lot of people don't know that all major broadcast networks (ABC,NBC,CBS) are required to send out high definition TV over the air. The picture quality is better than cable and it is FREE! Antennas are available from about $50 to $150 at places like best buy. The only drawback is that it only works within about a 50 mile range of the broadcast tower. Not for camping, but a great thing for more urban folk.

I use a cheap set of rabbit ears and works well when at urban campgrounds. But, if in the sticks out in rural areas, sometimes Im only able to get 1 or 2 channels. With the switch over to digital, it became a real pain because either the signal comes in or not at all. With an analog signal you were still able to see and hear something, but may not be clear. Now, if it doesn't come in strong enough, it will freeze, not come in at all or be very choppy to the point its useless. Without a strong signal, over the air is worthless. TJ
