Recently obtained a small single axle 1986 Layton TT (T1550) with a Duo-Therm 66100 series furnace (model 66112). It came with both installation & owners manuals. They are vague as to lighting the pilot and / or what lighting system it has on this particular furnace. I know it's not equipped with the optional piezo (still have to remove cover to use piezo) Did not see a igniter coil of any sort. soooo.... I guess it lights with a match? The "sight window" needs to be removed every time. Am I on the right track here? Could I somehow adapt a generic piezo from a gas grill to make lighting easier? On my old TT furnace I would lite right from the thermostat - like most modern ranges ignite today.

I use a BBQ lighter for the pilot. Push the pilot button or turn the T stat to pilot. You may have to push in or turn to send gas to the pilot.
It sometimes takes several minutes for gas to reach a pilot if a trailer hasn't been used in a long while.
However, a Duotherm 66112 is a Furnace rather than a vintage passive heater. There are several operations that must be OK for the it to light and provide heat. Pilot on, t'stat to fan on, sail switch signals circuit board... etc. I would think the owners manual will give you more information than we can.

No problem lighting the furnace with MATCH / BBQ LIGHTER. Pilot lights & furnace runs fine. Was hoping someone was more familiar with this model that knew of a alternative ignition source (piezo/glow coil). The manuals touch on it but don't go into detail. Very little info found on searches. Think DuoTherm is now DuoFunct. But thanks anyhow.

I can't see why adding a piezo wouldn't work, if there's room to install it without causing any leaks. My Suburban furnace came with one.
I hate sitting there holding the pilot button in for five minutes when I haven't run the gas in a while, so I turn on a stove burner first to clear most of the air out of the lines. Since my stove is downstream of my furnace, once the stove is running I only have to hold to pilot button for a minute or so before it'll light.
