Hi Friends,
Does a vintage mid 50's Marvel fridge need venting?
My '55 Rod and Reel is missing the Marvel fridge that was originally installed. It looks like the space for the fridge had almost no clearance all the way around. I mean that there is plywood on the left side, rear, and I have evidence that the right side had plywood also, but it was ripped out at some point. I have raised nail heads as evidence.
As far as I can tell, there was never any venting built in for the Marvel fridge size 23"w x20"d x 40"h
Then do I assume then, that installing a working Vintage Marvel fridge needs no venting?

It's all electric, no gas? I wouldn't think you'd need to vent to the outside, but you still need room for air flow to take the heat away out of the cabinet, or your fridge will be working too hard.

Thanks CowCharge!
I wonder if the internal side panel that was pulled out had vent holes in it? Any one ever seen that?At some point that panel would probably need to go back in, but not necessarily.
Yes, it's 100 percent Electric.
Cheers,
Rod

Most Marvels are vented to the outside, at least mine are.

My understanding is a vintage refrigerator puts off a lot more heat than newer ones. I bought this brand mini fridge on two campers and it puts off almost no heat. With that said, I made a vent up top and added one on the side although our recent two week camping trip convinced me the vents were overkill. I framed up an outside vent on my latest camper but never cut it in the new skin. Untitled
