Hi Friends, School started and all has but stopped on the trailer restoration scene. However, I was starring at my Rod and Reel and decided to mount the fenderskirts. Just something to make it look like I was doing something, LOL. Found some number 8 screws and they fit except for 2 holes. Those were enlarged. My question is: It looks like at one time there was a gasket around the top of the fender skirt. I also think that this trailer was originally natural aluminum with a light blue fishing rod(stripe) tapering from back to front. So, maybe there never was a gasket or maybe there was and they didn't paint over it when it was painted. There is no paint on the roof except on the front and rear curves. Here is a close up look. Click on the image and it will go directly to the gallery, then double click and it will enlarge. Other side close up view For comparison, I have only found 1 other trailer like mine with the original paint that can be seen here. www.rollinvintage.com/picture.php?/2843/category/Rod-N-Reel-1955 and www.rollinvintage.com/picture.php?/2842/category/Rod-N-Reel-1955. I can't see any gaskets around the upper edge of the fenderskirts. I have found pix of two others, but they had been restored, but showed no gaskets. BTW, I recently found three images from an ebay ad from 2013 for a Rod and Reel sales brochure on this particular model. Sadly, I can't blow up the images, so I can't pin down the year. In looking at the images of the 17 footer and the 22 footer, I don't see any gaskets, but maybe they were painted. Off topic, but I found it interesting that the trailers only had one propane tank. My model has a 5 foot tall heater in it plus a stove. I would have expected a twin set of propane tanks. Anyone got a guess on the gasket? Cheers, Rod
