Can someone help me find some 1/2" x 1/16" x 50' Tacky Tape? I want to use it for my door trim. I've checked locally and have searched the web but coming up empty. TIA

Tacky Tape is hard to find...
Try your local roofer. It is made for metal siding on a building. I've had trouble doing a search for it before.
Look for Schnee-Morehead Tacky Tape. Also, any 1/2 x 1/ 16 butyl tape should work. Tacky Tape just happens to be a really good brand.

There are a few sources on Amazon, but not that size. Butyl often shows up as an alternate...is the tacky tape that much better?

Tacky tape is pure butyl. I am guessing that anything advertised as "butyl tape" rather than butyl "putty" tape would be pure??
If you can feel it, butyl is really sticky and a bit softer than RV "butyl" putty tape. The RV stuff is a mix.

Ok, what initiated my inquiry is vikx has mentioned Tacky Tape more than once here, specifically that it is a butyl tape, available in 1/16" thickness and can be a good choice to seal behind the exterior metal door jamb trim, which I happen to be doing at this time. The thinner 1/16" tape would be ideal for my door trim application, so I wanted to find some and give it a try. What I learned is Tacky Tape; tacky-tape.com/ is a brand of a line of different butyl tape products originally manufactured by Schnee Morehead which is now under the ITW Polymers Sealants; itwsealants.com/ family of products. There are many products that carry the Tacky Tape brand; tacky-tape.com/products/#section_90 but the one I believe vikx is referring to, and the one I wanted to source, is their product #SM5227, which is manufactured in 1/16" x 1/2" x 50' rolls. To track the product down, I contacted Craig Stafford; tacky-tape.com/find-your-rep-2/ the US West representative to see if he could point me to a local distributor I could contact, who hopefully would then pass me off to a local retailer I could purchase through. Craig answered on the first ring, was very helpful and gave me a couple leads. We talked a bit about the product and my application, and he also mentioned another product, #SM5700 which is manufactured in 1/16" x 3/8" x 50' rolls which I think may work to better seal behind the rubber back gasket of Hehr standard windows. Craig said that this product, #SM5700, has more butyl and is stickier than the other, although it only comes in black. One of the companies Craig referred me to is AEP Span in Tacoma, WA. Interestingly, it is this company that the size I wanted is primarily manufactured for. AEP Span sells to business accounts only and referred me to another company, Metal Roof Specialties in Tacoma WA who was able to get the product to me. What's funny is I learned that Metal Roof Specialties sells a lot of this product, but only knows it as 1/16" x 1/2" x 50' butyl tape. So if you want to order from them, that is what you ask for, not Tacky Tape or Schnee Morehead #SM5700. Metal Roof Specialties will take phone orders, you can pay with a VISA card (that's what I did) and can ship anywhere in the US. I talked to Haley, she was wonderful, their number is 253.926.1633. Oh, here's the proof:

Do they have a minimum order? Some places have a 20 roll minimum.

TIA I just bought 5 rolls of 1/16 x 1/2 x 50ft for 36.99 off ebay an hour ago. Single roll is like 10 bucks with free ship. It's 12-15 bucks for one roll on amazon.

One consideration with ebay is that it can be a crap shoot. The manufacturer states that this product has an 18 month shelf life. An ebay sellers product could be several years old, there is no way to tell. On the other hand, just because the manufacturer states an 18 month shelf life does not necessarily mean that the product can no longer be used for our purposes. The only way to be certain is to buy from a known source.

I have a question. Is all "butyl" tape the same as long as it says butyl? I noticed the mechanical contractor on the job I'm on uses butyl tape on his ac duct flanges. He buys it by the ton and said he could hook me up but I want to make sure it's safe. I'll see if I can get a pic of the box later.
