I tried looking around the forum for an answer. Didn't find anything so I will ask. I live in Wisconsin, Have the skin off my trailer currently and starting on walls and and floors. I don't have anything overhead to protect the trailer from weather (and like most campers, won't fit in the garage) What have you found for a solution for protecting your trailer? I found this at Lowes and think it might be a good option. www.lowes.com/pd/ShelterLogic-White-Polyethylene-Storage-Shed-Enclosure-Kit/50035298Thanks in advance!

iamvoldemort I bought a ShelterLogic 10' x 20' canopy with the sidewall kit from Norther Tools and been using it for years. I ended up needing to raise the overall height of it, for our Shasta Starflyte. Went to Lowes and got 6 chain-link fencing rails and used those for the replacement legs. The sidewall kit for the canopy is a bit short, but the camper stays dry. Just make sure that you secure the canopy down, real well, because high winds could pick it up like a kite.

Hi. I'm reading all the posts that come up in my searches for the multitude of questions I have and this come came up. I was also wondering about covering my Shasta Starflyte (well, it's not mine yet but hopefully will be this time tomorrow) during the winter. It will be on an RV storage lot and they won't allow me to erect anything. I've seen trailer covers that you secure with straps underneath. Any problems with those?

frugalrver We have one of those RV covers, but use it on a 2016 travel trailer and LOVE IT. The are expensive, but well worth the money. The only real big issue that I can see is, you will need to create some sort of foam cover for the tip of the wings.....provided that your Staflyte has it's wings. This is the Elements All Climate RV Cover for Travel Trailers. For your Starflyte, you would need the smallest that they make, which is the " Up to 20' " and it runs about $350.00 at Camping World. It has zippered access doors and breathable material. Our travel trailer stays nice and dry after the ugliest of rain storms! If you are a CW member and choose this cover from CW, they offer a replacement "warranty" (runs about $125.00 or so), but it's run through CW and not the manufacturer. If the cover gets damaged in any way, shape or form within 2 years, CW will replace it! CW will also tell you to bring it back in, dirty, torn or whatever, within a month or two, before the 2 years are up and replace it with a brand new one. Make sure to get the CW replacement "warranty" on the new one and do it all over again.

What kind of camper do you have? Just fits any 14-17 foot and wraps around the top/small part of the sides?

It has elastic at the bottom plus straps that go under the trailer. It's big enough that it can cover the tongue also but not just way too big that it's baggy. My trailer is 17' to the tongue and 14' on the walls. I'm happy with it and I couldn't buy a blue tarp for that price. The part of the camper that you see in the ad is where it has 2 zippers down the side. That way you can roll the side up to enter and you don't have to remove the cover.

I'm in the building stage so it's not a concern right now but that's a good question. I'll check and see how it's made.

For our very wet autumns, winters, springs and parts of summers here in the PNW, we got a cover for our Compact that's designed for a small R-Pod. We put old tennis shoes on the wing tips and it works great. The door in the cover is close enough to work and the zipper hasn't been a problem, especially when compared to all the little "rock bites" from several thousand miles on all sorts of roads.

I'd like to have a covered place for our trailer. We just don't have the resources to build or buy a shelter or garage ...in my mind the camper was meant to be outdoors,in all kinds of weather anyhow. So there she sits, washed and waxed when I get the chance. I keep an eye out for leaks, so far so good. Of course ours was never intended to be a museum showpiece, we just wanted it to be safe and clean. Many of the options for storing our trailers cost more than we paid for the camper in the first place.
