Hey all, new to the site and new to vintage campers... I happened to come across a vintage camper in the Southern Colorado Mountains and had to have it. So fast forward a week and it has been delivered...but, I have no idea what it is and the old fella I bought it from had no idea. He purchased the camper 20 years ago at a farm auction and used it for yearly hunting trips. It has basically sat for 2 years and now it is my duty to bring back the glory I know it once had. The only markers I could find are by the entry door, it says ROYALE MARK I. Could any of you guys/gals help me with id'ing this new addition? thanks for the help!

Welcome! It reminds me of a Holiday Rambler from the mid 70s. Although not exactly.

I saw an old newspaper ad that said Travel Master made models called Royale Mark I and II in the early 70's. I'd start the hunt for more info there.

I like the shape. How about some interior photos?

thanks all for the info so far. i will definitely look into travelmaster and holiday ramblers. real excited about this project. i was a bit worried after reading about all the water damage that is so common on these older models. luckily our dry mountains kept it solid but the sun destroyed the paint. up close I can see it once had three colors, but those have long since faded. The only 'problem' I have to deal with is the field mice it was harboring. They are gone, but the foul smell and droppings remain. I did plan to gut the interior either way, so not a big deal I would say. i will get some interior shots up tonight, for now I have it airing out in the alley behind the house...

We don't "GUT" trailers here. We disassemble carefully, screw by screw, nail by nail, piece by piece, methodically and carefully while photographing and documenting everything. Otherwise you won't know how to put it back together again. Also, most trailers are built from the inside out so you must take them apart from the outside in. Some larger models are built in a way that you can remove paneling from the inside but I don't know if this is one of those trailers without seeing interior photos. I suggest you don't do ANYTHING until you know more about what you are doing. It's going to take a little research for you to know that. So don't just go in and "GUT" the trailer. It's not how it's done.

I'll add another quick note at this point... When you start in cleaning up after mice (hereafter referred to as " those little #&*@ bastards"), be sure that you use a good particle mask. I did one several Winters ago and ended up sick and on steroids for weeks. There can be much worse than just the smell left behind by those little #&*@ ers. There are other suggestions as to what to use for cleaning up after them, I personally have had good results using Clorox Cleanup, again being careful of the fumes. Remember also that for every mess you can see, there are two more concealed in places that you can't. And lastly, they run all over everything, so any flat surface no matter how small needs to be washed down, including window sills and frames. As time consuming as all that is, it's a good feeling when you're done and can't smell those little..... Sorry for the coarse language, but I HATE MICE!!

Poor little mice. They probably don't like us either. Leading scientists agree, "There is nothing as smelly as human excrement." I saw a documentary once where they re-hydrated some human "ancient artifacts" and found them extremely smelly. My question would be, "Why did they do that?"!!!!

Wow, this is lovely. How large is the trailer? What's the interior look like? I look at that and think it would make an awesome guest house

I also found this old ad that shows a very similar camper. I am leaning toward this being a Holiday Rambler...
