Hello everyone and thank you for taking time to read about our new family member. I believe we have a fairly clean Land Commander. I still don't know much about operating the water system, toilet, wiring, refridgerator, ect.. Does anyone have a manual for this model? I'd like to read about operation on its systems and overall design.
Big thanks in advance for sharing your experience with us; I'll need it! I'm sure we have a few spots to replace wood in but overall I think we got a nice clean trailer for its age.
One thing we need right off is the plastic 15"x15" roof vent cover is broken and I've only seen a link on vintagetrailer parts for one. Has anyone build something to cover this opening/closing vent on their roof? I'd love to find a DIY idea rather than buying but will submit to that idea if needed. Again thanks, Wells family

Hello D.W.78 and welcome to the forum. There is a lot of help in here. I do not know enough to make ant comments on how Your stuff works but I do know that the people that do know about this stuff will come in and give You some help. One suggestion, if You are going to be replacing any wood, do not start with the interior. Another thing that I do know about us members is We like to see pics. Below is a tutorial for posting pics. in the forum. I use flikr as it does not bog down a computer with a bunch of adds. Click the link below for the tutorial. link

Welcome to VTT! Almost any RV shop should have a vent cover to fit your vent. You'll need to know what kind of hinge it has to get the correct replacement. There is really no do it yourself fix. Marty is steering you right. PLEASE do not try to repair your Land Commander from the inside. I've had 3 and all had some pretty nasty rot along the bottom edges and wheel wells. That area is impossible to repair from the inside, as it is below the floor level. You will need to lift the skins at the very least to inspect what you have. Here's my LC. Looked pretty good to start... Here's what I discovered upon lifting the skins: We are here to help. Do some reading and get back to us.

Here are some before and after pics from pick up to car wash and then home for a better inspection and much needed deep cleaning. I'm finding some rot inside but not terrible. Yes; outside to inside on restoration makes sense. Thank you already; that makes sense. Norman loves the bench seat and we plan to use this while we restore a little at a time. So happy and excited to have this little gem.

As with My camper. I discovered they are like an ice berg. You see just a little on the surface, but once under the water, its like a continent under there. Release some siding from the low side and have a good look under, hopefully You will not find what I found under the skin on Mine. Behind the commode, it appears to be quite a bit of damage on the surface of the wall. Norman looks like He feels right at home. LOL

Here's a link to one of my 67s: 67landcommander.shutterfly.com/pictures Scroll down to view the albums and build. Sometimes you can "re-do" the paneling by re-laminating the wood grain onto a new piece of thin plywood. SAVE EVERYTHING until your work is completed, even the veneer... Your trailer has a nice floor plan! I recommend removing the existing Monomatic toilet and replacing with a Porta Potti.
